After all is said and done, there's only two teams going for the PL title. The rest might as well retire until next season!

Actually, and I wouldn't normally divulge such info, but seeing as it's christmas <cracker> I will :

I was actually in favour of allowing HIAG to continue on the Arsenal board, but as every good democracy decrees, we needed to consult everybody else and the consensus was that, although he was a laughable wum, he should keep his 'wind up' articles to the Spurs board.

God knows we have enough in fighting from our own fans about Wenger in / Wenger out as it is <laugh>

  9. Who is talking in terms of achievements? Not me, that's for sure.

Sometimes, taking a controversial stand, whether one personally believes in it or not, is a good means of sparking a debate. We used to do this a lot at law school, when one of us would have to try to defend the opposite side of an argument. It was called "debate" not winding-up. Although "The Winding-Up Society" does rather have a ring to it.

It is an unfortunate by-product of these kinds of threads that we must permit the likes of PESKIE onto them, someone with the maturity of the Jedwards' idiot baby brother, as he appears to have no concept of open debate. For him, this forum is nothing more than a means of propagating his own particularly skewed slant on Whinger, and any argument that steps even remotely outside of that agenda is immediately suspect and open to ridicule.

I didn't ask PESKIE to join this debate; in fact, I would rather he had kept away. But he chose to come here and wind himself up with the arguments put forward. If you are looking for someone to have a pop at, cini65, pick on PESKIE, not this thread.

    Thank you.

Which just shows how he isn't wound up or anything...

By the way, this month's WSC has an article on Arsenal's decline, which includes this phrase: "Wenger used to make teams that were invincible. Now Arsenal are as much of a title challenger as my neighbour's three-legged dog."

The really amusing thing is, he didn't realise HIAG's post was a Gooner wind up, until I pointed it out to him. Then, it was "oh yeah, I knew that all along" The guy is priceless..

Still floggin' that dead horse I see.

You lot can't make your mind up whether he meant to raise it as a debate, or as a failed wind up.

and there's you trying to claim it's not a debate but a 'clever' wind up

It fails on both counts, but it is funny to see you lot get your knickers in a twist about it.

Alright we heard you the first time. If you read HIAGs mail, he said there is no difference between wumming and debating. It's in the eye of the beholder.

    <laugh> sorry

The point is that this thread is neither, is just a bit silly. And the desperate insistence from some that I'm somehow getting wound up and crying into my egg nog about it, just adds to the humour

Don't get me wrong, I'm all up for a good wind up and banter thread, some of the funniest threads on here and old 606 were brilliantly subtle wind ups.

HIAG is harmless enough, but he's not the sharpest tool in the box. If you really want to indulge in a good Gooner wind up thread, maybe you should let somebody else have a go ? <whistle>
