Because he's not (and won't be) as good. No comparison !!

What gets me is that you lot slag players off because they join other clubs and you don't have the means to attract them. You keep rattling on about his mediocre performance in the championship last season but everybody, Liverpool and Arsenal included, (except those green with envy) can see the lads potential for the future.

Question - Would you want him in your team if he was offered on a free ? He's better than anything you've got at present !

We'd take him on a free, but that wasn't the point made, the point was that he's not worth £8-12m.

    Connor Wickam(Ipswich) 13 goals - 65 games - £8-12m

    Matty Fryatt(Hull City) 9 goals - 22 games - £1.2m

I wouldn't swap Matty for Wickham.

FREE TRANSFER YES. Money ? no way. Very over-rated and time will show that.
Sunderland will kill CW. If he had any ambition then he should have gone or waited for a bigger club. Will be watching sunderland with interest this season. Not because they are good but i expect them to be a train wreck at some point soon.

Wickham has potential but I think it might end up wasted at Sunderland. I get the feeling you signed him for now just as much as the future, and under Bruces coaching, he'll probably be instructed to jump into goal posts and shatter his knees. I think he would of been better off going to say Arsenal or United where the worlds best coaches could have brought him on in leaps and bounds and by age 21 he may well of justified that price tag and been a magnificent player. 12 million is a huge gamble on someone like him, specially if I'm right and he's going to be thrown straight into the mix, not only will he have smashed knees he'll most likely end up with shattered confidence too which will drastically halt his development.

Saying that, I'm not saying it won't pay off, I'm 50/50 on whether he'll come good for you and justify that price or just be wasted cash, but I guess if you never take the gamble you'll never know.

Mark Cullen however is in a completely different class, and he's cost us nowt!

Cullen's got a 1 in 2 goal scoring ratio in the Premier League, Wickham doesn't some close. :emoticon-0100-smile

Missed a sitter against Liverpool as well <doh> how good would that have been, a City striker with a goal a game ratio in the Premier League!

Wickham could be great, but £10m or whatever is a huge gamble by Agent Bruce. SB will move on to a bigger club when he finally takes Sunderland to the dizzy heights of 9th anyway, so there's no need to worry about him wrecking player's careers just yet <ok>

Dong-won? Who's he, the Korean Don Juan? He might score with the women mate, but I don't fancy his chances of scoring goals.

Wow,,,,,, just come in and seen that scary list of goal getters. The rest of the PL must be petrified at the prospect of hosting blunderland or going to the "stadium of light" (how petenstious is that monica?).

Pussy club cat club name pussy cat strikers........wouldn't scare a tiger.

Really, it's the opposite, you keep rattling on about his ability and potential and I keep pointing out that he's actually achieved nothing at Championship level yet, so I have no reason to believe he's suddenly good enough to play in the PL, or that he is worth £8m. As I keep saying, he has achieved no more than any other young championship striker. Unfortunately, you have no defence to that point and just keep coming back with the statement that he 'has potential'. If by that you mean he is young then I cannot disagree, but many people used to be 17 and haven't grown into world beaters. You have to actually show do something at a young age to qualify as 'having potential' in my book, not just be young.

Dong-Won? hahhaha, he's the next Lee Dong Gook.

With regards to the others. Gyan - overrated. Wickham - doesn't deserve his reputation he's average at best. Campbell, he has more important bench-warming duties.

Good luck scrapping for 0-0's all season and see you in the Championship next year!
