The wreckage is there mate, it's just in a billion pieces! Mental innit. Sorry to hear about your fam BM, that sounds like a very bad deck life's dealt them to play with. All you can do is be there for your Mrs and the family.
Awful innit RAW, there was a football team or sports team apparently who'd changed their flight late in the day as well, originally they were supposed to be on that flight.
People in glass houses eh? On a serious note, I do keep any plane Journeys down to a minimum, and will go abroad no more than once a year and sometimes as in this year not at all.
I used to love flying but overthink everything now, so usually require something to take the edge off before flying nowadays. Got hit by lightning whilst flying couple of years ago, that didn't help!
The latest news is one of the pilots was locked out of the cockpit? - this clip shows how access to the cockpit can be gained in an emergency all very strange indeed
I wonder if the other pilot locked him out and maybe was a bit mental/depressed or something. Surely if you see a captain kicking at the door and your plane is dropping out of the sky, as a passenger you'd do something about it? There's no way those doors could hold out a load of passengers. To me, everything points to the other pilot now, there's an obvious question that needs answered here.
I agree -I would certainly want to help bash down a door if I was a passenger in that situation - reckon the doors are certainly reinforced for obvious good reason, bear in mind though the rate of descent of the craft at the time - it's possible dozens of people were trying to access the cockpit - scary thought really
Cabin pressure will have dropped mate, there's no doubt most people will have been sat there hoping for the best with masks on. Even if this is completely accidental, it's still score one more for Terrorism, if it weren't for them bastards planes wouldn't have to have such safety precautions in place. Germanwings are refusing to name the co-pilot only stating that the pilot had plenty of experience.
couple of interesting blogs on cockpit safety http://www.popularmechanics.com/fli...-could-plane-cockpits-be-too-secure-16611747/ and http://kcubbin.tripod.com/id34.html The way only fail-safe way forward I reckon would be for pilot less aircraft that be can flown by on board computers backed up by off board computers via satellite link - as modern planes can fly and land themselves anyhow, that stop any potential 'mentally ill or kamikaze' pilots from hijacking their own craft
Why the **** was the captain out of the cockpit on a short haul flight anyway? It's like me driving to Liverpool and having to stop in Warrington for a dump. Aeroplanes simply should not be falling out of skies for any reason in this day and age.
Lufthansa and Germanwings have come under pressure today to reveal the names of the pilot and co-pilot. Germany's newspaper Bild claims to have obtained their identities and has published their first names and the first letter of the surname. The captain is said to be Patrick S. a dad of two with over ten years flying experience. The co-pilot is named as Andreas L. a young man from Montabaur - a town in the Rhineland area. Both are said to be German nationals
