The Conservative party took away their hopes with the heavy industry, not all people are capable of doing clerical type jobs, people who are left with no hope usually end up turning to drink and drugs. Can't recall any lies by Corbyn. Enlighten me. Corbyn does things to the detriment of society? The man is a socialist. Socialism, social security are derived from the word society hence things are done in the interest of society over money. Capitalism is derived from Capital as in money, so is done in the interests of money over society. All the Tories will have degrees from their priveleged Oxbridge educations. Does having a degree mean you are more intelligent than other people? Or merely that you had access and the financial wherewithall to obtain that piece of paper. Is a degree better than my City and Guilds 594 craft certificate in p and d? In a pub toilet in Durham once somebody had written on the toilet paper "Sociology degrees, free - please take one".
So you've conveniently forgotten the train seat incident? Detrimental to society- consorting with proscribed organisations. I didn't say that having a degree made anyone better did I? I said Corbyn had a chip on his shoulder about not having one. The point being that someone that petty makes an unstable leader. His hypocrisy regarding Brexit and the climate demonstrate that all he is interested in is getting into power. Socialism is just the trojan horse he rides. For most of his political career he's been considered a joke and is bitter.

So you did then?
He doesn't have to burgle houses when he's failed and been part of a massive financial collapse ...

... all of the little work people, with houses, bail him out through their taxes and pensions.

Unbelievably, the money the banks were bailed out with was taken from the national insurance "pot" paid into by us "plebs" since the welfare system was created by those evil socialists called the Labour party.

If you're destitute or homeless you have more urgent priorities than drugs.

You certainly have a point and I'm sure these people would benefit from a job, decent housing and professional support.

However having worked for the Salvation Army, for many years, I can say that there are thousands in a totally hopeless situation.

If I was in their situation I'd be drunk or high as often as possible to escape a reality that isn't about to change.

A rich banker probably believes snorting cocaine is a victimless crime ...

... nothing could be further from the the truth.

I have never heard of the train seat thing. Whilst I may agree that Corbyn s expecting Utopia, he was elected leader by members the Labour Party. A party founded by and for working class people who I would hazard a guess are 99% of the people on this forum. If you don't like Corbyn join the Labour Party and vote him out. I know his leadership is far more democratic than the 60,000 Tory Party members who took part in a vote to elect Boris the buffoon as Prime Minister. Corbyn is unstable? What about Boris assaulting his wives and or girlfriends. Or his infedelity to all of them, or the fact that he will not confirm or deny how many children he has sired? Or being sacked 3 times for lying. I also can't recall police being called to a late night drunken "domestic" between Corbyn and his partner.

It's a puzzle how so many of us lower orders meekly accepted that bailing out the banks was a good thing to do.

I expect the self proclaimed middle classes aspire to being in that class of people so want it preserved for when they get there.

It's like those who hang around the fringes of the hunt, Henley regatta and the Proms.

Having been around those people I can confidently say any social climbers are derided and laughed at.

If Labour don’t win the election do you think they were wrong to keep him as leader or do you think they still will even if they lose?

If Labour don't get elected he has failed, in that case I would hope somebody else then gets a chance to get rid of these vermin Tories at the next general election which will probably be in 6 months time in this banana republic "Brexit" has created. My mate employs a Polish lad who says they have comedy programmes in his home country ridiculing us over this situation. We are the laughing stock of the continent.

I agree with you except my French friends blame the opposition for being undemocratic tossers.

Undoubtedly there are people who find themselves in terrible situations. We have a welfare state system but its stretched beyond its means so that other services (e.g. the police) are having to help out in areas that they are not expert in (e.g. mental health situations). That is a situation that desperately needs rectifying. Anyone who volunteers to help people in that situation should be commended.

I still don't see how anyone but the individual can be blamed of they exacerbate their situation through drink or drugs. Yes, they should be helped to get off those substances but apportioning blame for that element of their problems to the government is just excuse making as far as I can see.

You're right, Johnson is an appalling character too. I just don't see how anyone can be taken in by Corbyn. As I said previously, he's a charlatan. I don't want either of them in power.

I have no intention of joining the Labour party or any other party. I find the idea of supporting a political party like you would a football team to be a ludicrous concept. People that I know that are members of parties tend to have very blinkered views of the world. I prefer to remain neutral and try (although it's not always easy) to exercise common sense.

But surely Brexit was to give us back the sovereignty of The British Parliament over unelected EU bureaucrats wasn't it? Unless of course an unelected Prime Minister of a minority Tory government disregards the sovereignty of British Parliament and tries to force his policies through on an old, long forgotten technicality. Or maybe it was to give back power to the British Judicial system over laws enforced by those same unelected EU bureaucrats. The same British Judicial system that ruled Boris the buffoon's chicanery to be unlawful. No what the Tories crave is unopposed supreme Sovereignty of the Conservative and Unionist Party of Great Britain and Nothern Ireland to ride roughshod over Parliamentary democracy and the Judicial system of the UK.

Read my comment again or are you one of them?

I actually cringe with embarrassment when i watch them waving their flags and reading some queue to get a party manifesto signed <doh>

The government has a duty of care to everyone in society mate.

Sadly those at the bottom have little to contribute in the way of taxes, wealth or even a vote.

So they're ignored and left to fend for themselves, a task their completely ill equipped to manage.

So they take the easiest way out which is drink, drugs, petty crime and quite often suicide.

I once gave up my Christmas day to serve lunch to the homeless on Canal Street, Nottingham.

Most of those who came were decent blokes who'd lost jobs, homes and wives ...

... usually in that order.

Yep, a Tory government does not care about you if you are "economically inactive" (in other words you don't pay tax) or do not vote for them. That is why all investment is spent in the Tory heartland South. Add this to the funds taken away from Labour councils in the "desolate wastelands of North East England" (as one Tory MP referred to us) and you end up with the pathetic site that is Sunderland City centre, Pound Shops, Charity Shops, Greggs, Primark and empty shops or wasteland abound where once there was a House of Fraser store in Binns, a brewery, shipyards and a Coal mine employing thousands of men . Sadly it mirrors our football team in it's pitifulness.

Living on the west coast I don't take much notice what happens over there but which council runs Newcastle?

I think we're maybe talking at cross purposes here. I'm not blaming people for getting into difficult circumstances. I'm not saying the government shouldn't take care of people in difficulty. I'm just saying that blaming a government for the personal choices of anyone in any circumstances is wide of the mark.

There are plenty of towns in the south that are like that too though.
