Brilliant Murray - maybe some of the Murray-bashers will get off his case now. He`s proved this summer how much it means to him to be British, as well as Scottish, and we can all be very proud of him.

What a summer he has had. Final of Wimbledon, a gold and silver at the Olympics and now his first major win. Well done to the lad.

You are so right Aberdeen.
I think it also changed Murray's thinking about being British when he played in the Olympics as well as peoples opinions about him.
Absolutely brilliant game and to spend over half an hour after with the Sky commentators showed what a great guy he is.

Have to agree with this. Was fairly anti Murray until the last few months. Think he's been badly advised in the past but seems to have matured a lot this year.

Wow. I thought he'd blown it, but fair play to him becasue he really sorted himself out in the fith set.

Anyone else see Fergie tapping his watch?

I tried to post my usual quip about the Great British Tennis Player is no longer a Scottish loser! Couldn't get on to the Forum, it appeared to have crashed.

Watched the whole match enthralled by it all, heard what Novak had to say afterwards, always a gent, and then my bloody laptop cuts out on me just as Murray goes to speak and won't power back on, typical!

He will no doubt win sports personailty however Bradley Wiggins deserves it more especially if you take quite literally the word 'personality' because Murray doesn't have one :)

Half an hour with the Sky reporters? Were they asleep by the end. lol

Great win though and good to see him get that camel off his back.

Was up at 2am watching the end. I love players like Murray and Djokovic in any sport. Players than fight til the bitter end with immense passion. It was a great match. It showed great mental strength more than anything else from Murray to win the 5th considering the momentum on Djokovic's side at the end of the 4th.

I think there's a good case for Weir to get it - truly astonishing achievement. What a summer of sport though from Saints winning promotion, through City getting the Prem league in last minute, to Wimbledon (so near), the Euros, then all the great stuff in Olympics and then Paralympics and still got the Ryder Cup not forgetting Saints back in the Prem. will there ever be a year as good as 2012 for British Sport again (and has there ever been one better?
