Lendl has played a massive part in his transformation IMHO , either way Well done Andy . You used to be a bit of a prat , but you have matured , take a bow CHAMPION !!!
Our youngest was jumping all over me at 1 am , wanting food . I switched on the computer and listened to radio 5 live , could not tear myself away , awesome
Never joined in on that dislike of Murray..he always seemed to have a dry sense of humour to me. He had the gumption to go and live in Spain as a child to improve his tennis skills when he realised that GB tennis couldn't help him and more. Sad indictment of the LTA. He does moan a lot on the court (though mainly at himself)...that is his character...won't change now. Prefer that to screaming at everyone like McEnroe (entertaining though that was). He loved the support he got from fans at the Olympics. He kept smiling when the crowd were asked to calm down as they got too partisan. The gold medal was the turning point for him as it gave him the confidence to go along with his obvious talent. Also his most important victory....the Majors come along all the time and are worth a lot of money....but he will always be an Olympic Gold Medallist. Between him and Wiggins, but my SPOTY vote would be for Bradley.
Yep Weir is a good shout as is Sir Chris Hoy The Murray hatred thing stems from how 'fake' he is now. He used to declare he was 'Scottish' if anyone called him a Brit. Fiercely 'partisan' which is strange considering at the same time he said he supports Barcelona and spent so much time in Spain. Amazing what earning more advertising/sponsorship revenue from being a 'Brit' does to a persons principles However - Personaility aside it is a great achievement and deserves the plaudits.
