Andre Ayew Rejects move?

I presume rightly or wrongly that Ayew was the player Brucey referred to as being the overseas player that we'd had an offer accepted for? It subsequently turned out that Ayew rejected City as not being the 'right type' of club. If we are not the right type of club then there's only one answer to that, we wouldn't bow to his over inflated ego and pay what at face value were his high wage demands! Clearly if the guy considers The Dramas to be the 'right type' of club then it can only be his salary demands that scuppered any deal.

As it has turned out, Brucey has pulled off another master stroke potentially in signing Benny and would hope if he's playing well that we can tie him to a permanent contract come January or next Summer.

The Dramas are welcome to Ayew come January when at face value it appears he will move, enjoy the money Andre, QPR certainly know how to 'flash it'!

For me what this also says about our club, is that whilst Brucey and The Allams are eager to keep moving the club forward, this demonstrates this won't be at ANY PRICE.

It's quite incredible to see how Brucey works at the moment, on deadline day he managed to secure four fantastic talents, and three of them, at least, made their move to us for footballing reasons, they all have something to prove and will need very little encouragement to do that. Compare those three to the mercenary that is Andre Ayew and ask yourself which type of player you would prefer at our club, and then think back a little further, to the Brown/Duffen era, and try to imagine what type of players would have been brought in on deadline day.

This is a golden era, and, if Brucey stays here long term, my true belief is that this is only the beginning.

Rhodes did absolutely nothing wrong and I'm sure he'd have been happy to join us if Blackburn had accepted an offer. It's far too early to say if we got a better deal, Rhodes is the best striker in England, outside of the Premier League and has a goal scoring record that pisses all over Hernandez', hopefully he'll remedy that this season.

Most of Hernandez's goals were scored in Serie A which even you might accept is a slightly tougher place to score than the championship, therefore Hernandez has at least a record of scoring in a top division Rhodes has not.
Likewise Rhodes cannot even make a historically weak Scottish squad Hernandez is a regular in an international team better than England.
The two are different kinds of forward Rhodes may be more predatory , at a lower level but there's no guarantee he would be able to maintain the same goals ratio in the premier league, obviously Bruce thought he could and I accept that but if Hernandez was bought as a replacement for Long then it would be his pace, movement and ability to create chances as much as take them that we spent all that money for.
Of course no one can say for certain that Hernandez will prove a success but then the same could have been said for Rhodes but certainly many knowledgeable commentators ,john motson for one ( who I suspect knows more about the game than me and you combined ) believe Hernandez will turn out to be a great signing and a player who would more ably fit the style of play we look to be among at given the latest signings.
Having said that I wouldn't be surprised if we make a bid in January for Rhodes

I hope he turns out to be a massive success and I'm excited about seeing him play, I'm just saying there's a large element of risk, as he's never played in England before, his goal scoring record in Serie A doesn't really justify his price tag and there's a lot of question marks over both his attitude and his ability to stay fit. Bruce obviously rates him and that'll do for me, we can judge for ourselves in a few weeks time.

But that obviously ignores the fact that the 14 Serie B goals were in one season, while the 17 Serie A goals took five seasons.

It's hardly pedantic to point out your claim that it was wrong of me to state the majority of Hernandez's goals were scored in Serie A on the basis that you believe 14 is a greater proportion of 31 than 17... It's basic maths
Likewise the utterly lame argument about Hernandez international career, he is a regular in the squad , however it's hardly surprising that he is not first choice...given he only has Suarez and cavani in front of him. Perhaps you can tell me which world class strikers are keeping Jordan Rhodes out of the Scotland squad ?
Oh yes Stephen Fletcher, Naismith and that world beater ....Chris Martin of....Derby county so Strachan doesn't even think Rhodes is better than another championship striker.
Trouble is you've missed the point I was originally trying to make that is since our signing of Hernandez the failure to sign Rhodes ( who would have cost considerably more in both transfer fee and wages) has largely been forgotten.
Anyway the two as I've said before are not comparable Hernandez was not bought because Bruce thinks he' ll score 25 goals this season but clearly as part of an overall strategy to give the team more pace and creativity up front something Rhodes would not.
Incidentally if Rhodes was generally held to be so good that he would be able to replicate his scoring ratio in the premier league he would have been snapped up by bigger clubs than us and for well more than 12 million. I'm not even convinced he was as has been claimed our first choice. The Hernandez deal must have been on going at least at the same time as our attempt to buy Rhodes if not before.
I agree that we have to wait and see and as with any transfer of this type it could all go tits up, however I am far more excited at the prospect of Hernandez in our line up than I would be by Rhodes and I suspect most other city fans are too.

Personally the difference between Rhodes and Hernandez for me is that RHodes would have been a safer option based on numbers but Hernandez has more potential to become a big star than Rhodes. The Rhodes type of player rarely ever do. Look at ings and Austin, decent players but they won't be attracting huge figures

Sometimes you strike it lucky when it comes to buying prolific scores with a view to them keeping up their scoring rate is. Waggy , Keith Edwards other times it can go horribly wrong.... Alf Wood.
I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility that Bruce ideally would have like both Rhodes and Hernandez, what I can see however is Hernandez complimenting jelavic much better than Rhodes.
However it's all academic the simple fact is we have come out of the transfer window with arguably a better strike pairing than we had before it on the condition that Hernandez and jelavic gel and if not let HBA loose on em !

I can't right him off after 3 games no, but I expect hernandez will score more goals in 3 games! especially against man utds back 3, who MK Dons seemed easy to score against!
