Should all go to the game with mascara running down our faces. For a bloke who is meant to be great at PR his choice of words leave a lot to be desired
What a dickhead the man is.

Yeah, that's right. Methven has, apparently, levelled specific criticism at the fans. The blanket response has been "no, that's not true, he's wrong, he's just a southern toff". Complete denial. No one has gone "what could he mean? Have we caused problems for the owners?" Seems short-sighted to me.
But if you think he's wrong, you clearly do care about it.I genuinely don't care if he's from the south of england or Iceland. His position is wrong imo so forgive me for not caring about it.
We as fans should care about it as its now been covered by a national newspaper. But if you think he's wrong, you clearly do care about it.
Much easier to get defensive and claim to have been misrepresented marraIf that really is a widely held belief in the football world (and I'm not saying it is), surely that is something for us, as fans of the club, to be concerned about.
Who, with anything about them, hears criticism of themselves and doesn't take time to consider their actions?
That's what I've been saying. Everyone wants to say that he's wrong, but no one seems to care enough to consider whether what he has said may have a kernel of truth to it. He must think that's the case, or why would he say it?We as fans should care about it as its now been covered by a national newspaper.
Not that it makes it even remotely right but its not doing us any favours
Oh we're playing semantics! Sorry, I do care about it but I think it's bollocks. Okay? But if you think he's wrong, you clearly do care about it.
We're not playing semantics at all. See my previous post.Oh we're playing semantics! Sorry, I do care about it but I think it's bollocks. Okay?
Personally, I think as a fan base we put up with a lot and certainly don't go the lengths other clubs fans do when they have the hump. That's what I've been saying. No one is telling me we are any different to any other fans for wanting better for my club. I've sat through countless relegations, saw the likes of Colin Waldron

I think that's probably right. It's difficult to tell though. I go to a few West Ham games every season (long story) and their fans always seem quite placid with regard to what goes on but then they have the occasional well-documented flare up. I don't know what would be more difficult for owners, consistent low-level griping or big angry protests that only happen occasionally.I think there is a kernel of truth in it but not convinced that it's more true of us than other groups of fans

That becomes a double edges sword as it gives an outward perception that we turn quickly on owners managers or players rather than the truth is that it builds over time, but we don't shout it publicly

Like I said above, i think we tend to do low-level grumbling rather than being particularly vocal. I have thought for a while that there's a bit of fragile atmosphere at home games. Maybe that's what he means?

Next thing it'll be a "well known fact"Possibly, but it's now in the public domain that we have an image issue

That is very true. And I suppose that's another reason why its a bit odd that everyone just wants to deny it. It's become more of a case of needing to prove him wrong.Next thing it'll be a "well known fact"
For all the amazing away support and the home attendances we will no doubt end up needing to prove him wrongThat is very true. And I suppose that's another reason why its a bit odd that everyone just wants to deny it. It's become more of a case of needing to prove him wrong.
next thing the local (mag) press will latch on to it and this 'sunderland disease' phrase will become their new buzzword (s) ....... thanks Charlie!Next thing it'll be a "well known fact"
