**** me … BBC reporting the latest cost of living crisis is 4p on a pint (£0 in a pub), 76p on a £25-£30 bottle of spirit, 44p on a decent £10 bottle of vino.
Ok, I’m comfortable but is this really a major problem for the average non alcoholic?

I didn’t think that was a cost of living thing (caused by Brexit or wars or whatever)
I thought it was tax increases?
It’s the Govt deliberately deciding that stronger alcoholic drinks should cost more to try and encourage people to stop drinking as much, and presumably putting pressure on NHS /Social care etc.

It is exactly that, it's a duty increase on higher % alcoholic drinks, in an attempt to get people to drink less of them (low alcohol drinks will now be taxed at a lower level, medium ones will be unchanged and higher ones will be increased).
