On this day 16th January 1948 I came into this world and to reach the age of 70 is somewhat a miracle and something I never thought I would reach the three score years and ten. This year also is the 60th year of supporting Hull City AFC as 1958 was the first time I went through the turnstiles at Boothferry Park, and was smitten.

I have seen many owners come and go, and my only wish is that in my life time I can see the back of the Allam's and the club returning to the happy place it once was.

Happy Birthday, John!

My Dad would have been 71 tomorrow but he was killed over 11 years ago now. We were struggling near the foot of the Championship at the time, he never would have believed what was just around the corner. I wasn't prepared for the explosion of emotion when the final whistle went on that special day at Wembley!

Stay safe out there!

Hoping you are celebrating a little, well celbrating a lot, I understand your sentiment John as I too first saw City 1958 although my visits were sparodic, money wasn't plentiful. It wasn't until I earned enough of my own money, parents couldn't afford pocket money, that my visits became regular then obsessive. I'm having a drink of spicey rum in your honor, well that's my excuse lol. All the best.

Something the Allams could learn from, we got from school, as I was in the football team and pass which got us in for half price. From memory it was a shilling but with this pass we got in for sixpence. That got me started and I've spent tens of thousands of pounds on the club since that beginning.

Blimey John, likewise, got the pass as well, and I played for the team, did you go to Wheeler St?

No Anlaby CP.

I was at Eastfield throughout the 50’s, I remember we where having a trial for the school team, one of the other lads, it was Chris Simpkin, shouted, ‘where’s our inside right’, apparently that was supposed to be me. I never did get in the team, so had to pay the full shilling or 6d for reserves. I did actually get just one game for the C team playing against Kingston High, which explains a lot, I suppose.
