Standing up? I thought the article said something about gluing their hands to the floor?

Whatever the German is for - "Night all, see you tomorrow"

What they should have done is put a funnel in their mouths and poured loads of water into them until they were bursting then left. Then we could have all indulged in a bit of schaudenfreude..

here's a cricket thing that happened in hull in 1922 and i thought viewers might enjoy reliving this thrilling event. did anyone go watch it?

note that a sussex player called, appropriately enough, george street top scored for them in both innings.

This inspired me to go do a bit of Googling on Abe Waddington - a character of whom I've never previously heard.

Sounds a bit of a lad by all accounts.

Tell me I'm not the only one waiting for the video to start.

It's given me a glimpse of what matchday must be like for @askewshair <laugh>

i'm afraid most of my sport is watched in text these days. but a win by an innings when one's team only scored 125 is good going, and the yorkshire bowler that took 7 for 6 when sussex collapsed for 20 was impressive.

i've actually been on there trying to find match data for the 1880s when a player called segar richard b*st@rd played for essex. i'm sure the data used to be on there, so they've probably been "improving" things, as they do.

It's a sign of modern deprivation when kids are brought up by parents that never learned the art of fiddling the meter.

Saying that, many of us were dragged up in much colder times, in an era when central heating, double glazing and even duvet's (or continental quilts as they were then) were unheard off.

Get 'em a paraffin stove. That's what posh kids had. <laugh>

Still remember the smell of a paraffin stove. The Esso Blue adverts fibbed.

didn't see that match. I did go to watch Yorkshire play at The Circle regularly in the 60s and 70s. As our school was close I was a net bowler a few times.
