It may come as a shock to you, given that you only joined this board in Jan this year, but most, pretty much all, of us on here have been saying the same thing (but in English).

We all know we need a pair of goal scoring strikers. We've needed that pretty much since Deano retired, Fraiser Campbell wriggled off in the long grass of Sunderland (like the snake he is), and Marlon changed career to Mail Bag sewing.

Finding them, paying for them, and persuading them to come to Hull has been the problem. I know some have just been Duffen's wet dreams, but we have tried Negredo, Zamorra, Owen etc.

I expect Bruce to be better at finding them, the Allams to be better at finding the money, and especially Steve Bruce to be much more able to get them to come here. However, his track record indicates that the first we'll know about it is when they are "done deals".

Having said which, I can't agree with you that our squad as a whole haven't chipped in with enough goals in the Championship. They got enough to get us promoted.

your kidding right? for the past 6months or so its been if we had fryatt he would of scored this many, if we had fryatt in this team with brady and elmos chances we would of gone up no problem etc etc...... which is just bullshit. hes not as good as many of you were/are proclaiming him to be since hes been out injured.

Not kidding at all. Don't understand why you would say that.

I for one have never said Fryatt was the answer to any of our problems, never mind all of them. Probably the only thing we agree on is that he struggled to make the grade at the top of the Championship (given the number and quality of the crosses and other service he received). I think it's highly unlikely he'll cut the mustard in the Premiership.

I do think he would have scored more than Simpson/McLean etc. and that would certainly have helped us go up. After all, one more goal may have meant one more win and therefore at least 2 more points.

Who is this "many of you" of whom you speak. I cannot think of anyone on this board who thinks Fryatt's return will solve our scoring problems. Go back a year and you'll find most people thought he was over rated then. Hence our attempts to sign other strikers (Proschwitz for example) Though I grant you several did bemoan the fact that he was missing most of the season.

I think you're in danger of inventing things to argue with here mate. Not even Fryatt's Mum thinks he'll be the solution to our striking needs in the Premiership.

Hope we can be friends now I'm agreeing with you!

Go back a year and everyone agreed fryatt didn't suit the lone striker style we were playing under barmby. We needed a bigger target who could challenge for crosses, boss defenders about and hold the ball up whilst bringing others into play. It wasn't that he wasn't good enough, he just wasn't the right man for the formation, and he still managed to score 16 goals, which isn't bad for a little predatory striker playing the 'big man with his back to the goal all the time' game.

for months i read such drivel of how he would of got us the goals we needed etc i cannot exactly go back and link them all as i cba  but belive me over 80% of the forum (and city fans in general) were agreeing on him being a top goal scoring championship striker. also think you misunderstood what i said im claiming most of you thought he was championship quaility, not prem quaility (though im sure a lot think that anyway). i also agree he would be our top scorer (not hard is it?) however i dont agree hes our best striker or we would of gone up with him in the team. his all round play is not as good as simpsons and he would not ship in with that many more goals than him!! we would be a completely differnt team with him starting most of the season.

I don't think a big target man is always the answer, ask any centre back and they'd fancy their chances against a biggy rather than a little tricky one ( aluko, Brady etc )

I agree. He linked everything going forward and without him and with a slightly mis-firing Koren we had nothing linking a workmanlike midfield with a plodding attack. The was no invention and unpredictibility. I think Boyd was brought in to address exactly this but we've struggled t find his best role. Simple fact is Aluko is our only 'surprise' player and if we dont know what he's doing how can the oppo?

Aluko's ability to receive the ball with his back to goal, turn, and take on the opposition meant so much to us and when he was injured that was the main problem with the team having too many static players in the banks of defence, midfield and attack with nothing inbetween

So you were coming on here for 6 months as a guest? 80%? sorry, I don't accept it was anything like that. But in any event he proved himself the previous season as a good Championship striker. Excluding Aluko who we didn't have at that time and he out performed everybody else we could get.

Seems to me the level of drivel on here has gone up in the last 6 months compared to last July.

As for the suggestion that you are sure a lot on here think he is Premiership quality, I challenge you to name even one.

It's true that Fryatt's injury was over-hyped. People have regularly said things like "He'd have scored all these chances..." forgetting that last year with Fryatt fit we were still wishing we had someone who could finish chances just like this season. However it's not suddenly increased since his injury, I think people just think he's better than he is.

No one else really seems to give a **** about him outside of Hull.
