Given up squash Breezey. Had dodgy knees for years and squash made them worse. It came to a head when playing a female 13 year old Welsh international in a club match about 18 months ago. She murdered me for 2 games but I managed to nick it 3 -2 after about 75 minutes on court. I couldn't move for a week afterwards so decided enough was enough.

Conversely, I have taken up running, joined a running club and now run about 30k minimum per week - albeit slowly. Running in more or less straight lines causes much fewer issues for my knees. Keeps me a lot fitter too.

Stating the obvious, this Saturday at Sheffield is make or break for us. Win and the pressure will be on Wednesday away at Wolves next week, leaving us with the little matter of beating Birmingham.
Out of the fire and into the frying pan taking up running because you're knees got fuked from squash ... swimming and biking is the ticket for you , no jolting of the knees and great cardio. Good luck with that , I have so many injuries it would be easier to tell you what's ok , frankly .

Wouldn't argue with the principles of swimming and cycling Breezey but I'm a crap swimmer and it bores me to tears and I wouldn't risk cycling on the roads around here. Like playing Russian Roulette.

Running is easier on my knees than squash or tennis as it eliminates the jarring and turning involved in racket sports. I'll stick with that until my body tells me to stop. Felt a bit like that after an 11k run last night.

Back to football. As a Spurs fan I don't begrudge Leicester's title win. They thoroughly deserve it. So well done but let's move on and talk about something else.

Just my seasonal visit girls, see if anything has changed with you Blue tits, nothing to report I see, it's like a pensioners weekend on here............<laugh>

Footy ? isn't that that game you old rock 'n' Roll has-beens play under the table with the over 70's.

not really, totally different range of movements. Gave up playing squash after surgery on a knee at 19, having started playing at 8. Swelled up every time I played. Continued to play rugby for another 14 years with very few problems. Squash is a lunge, a turn and a push. it's the rotation that causes the problem. Never had a sidestep so rugby wasn't a problem.

Agree that cycling and swimming are lower impact, but found cycling shortened my hamstrings and swimming bored me to tears. Did a lot of both as part of rehab after the knee surgery.
