What he achieved despite the off field antics of the owners was incredible. He clearly wasn't happy with these but wasn't in a position to say much. It was left to him to appeal for calm and try to unite the club. Without this approach, things would have been much much worse. I can't think of anyone else who has the qualities to have achieved that.
He was criticized for us not moving up to the next level after promotion despite spending money. Something I think was massively underplayed was the amount of injuries to key players that season, not just in number but to key players or when a player was hitting form (ie Jelavic, Diame) or to several players in one position, etc. The injuries negated the money spent. Again to his credit, he never used that as an excuse.
He was criticized for his negativity, fair point but it is about winning. Yes he would take forwards off for an extra defender when 1 0 up, but although its not pretty and horrible to watch, look at the stats, he has a fantastic record for hanging on to leads.
He only got us up through the play offs, but who cares? It's very clear that a very difficult season for him with the hangover of relegation against the backdrop of the owners, a divided club and at times unmotivated prima donnas in our team.
He got stick for giving his son a contract. When he played, he never let us down. Good 4th choice centre back, which is how he played him. So long as his contract reflected that (which I have no idea), and it didn't create unrest (mmmm. Macca does spring to mind) then I have no problems with that.
In Brucie I trusted and am gutted at us losing the best manager we've ever had (and are likely to have for a long time).

Him having to ask the public to turn up for the Derby play off game summed it all up.
His mute employers doing **** all while the team manager has to step in and act as club spokesman/CEO/ Sales Director/ leader all rolled into one.
No wonder the poor bloke thought '**** it I've had enough'

Some good points well made.

My name is Ehab. Tell me something about these players I accepted onto the payroll at your request.: Proschwitz, Diomande, Taylor, Ben Arfa, Ramirez. Tell me about having a son on the payroll. Tell me about playing your Big Players week in week out as they consistently underperform and we slide toward the precipice. Tell me about snide remarks [HASHTAG]#Ask[/HASHTAG] Ehab. Personal attacks don't go down well and are never forgotten. Running off for an unsanctioned interview was a silly move. Finally, playing a game of Call My Bluff with an Arab businessman and hoping to win has worse odds than getting out alive from a bathtub with an alligator in it. Don't forget who puts the bread on the table. No I don't talk to Burnsy for the satisfaction of emotional stakeholders. I talk to Burnsy when it suits me and me alone. For me, Hull Tigers is a business, nothing else. I am a businessman, live with it.

Erm no, I don't think I will. I resigned you see. See ya :emoticon-0128-hi:

Thinking about Bruces time with us, we had some incredible luck with him as manager which I've never seen before like the route to the Cup final which essentially was Sunderland ressies and Sheff Utd from League 1, the second play-off was a minor miracle this season. I just hope the Allams haven't deprived us of that kind of luck now so that we are waiting 100 years more for a repeat, could be that you don't need the best manager tactically but one that gets you over the line by any means necessary be that luck or whatever.

Off you ****.

Sorry that it has come to this. Good luck for the future Steve. Best manager we have ever had as the history books will show. I fear for the future and hope we don't go the same way as Wigan, Bolton or Blackpool, to name just a few. They say money is the root of all evil and nothing could now be truer as far as our club is concerned. Fingers crossed for a miracle!

isnt this what Leicester did last season?

Not necessarily, but over 60 years as a City fan suggests miracles are as rare as hens teeth

yeah I can see that when all youve had is disappointment, thats what youve come to expect.
I can see us being an established PL club from this season onwards

Good, honest and respectful bloke, always had nice words to say about us and never seemed to whinge after matches. Hope he gets a Chairman that respects him and the same goes for your club, you deserve better that the clown you currently have. Good Luck for the season...<cheers>
