It sure did. He should be on fire in the Championship for the talent he has. The trouble is he mis-fired, didn't use his talent in the Prem and ultimately he couldn't help us avoid relegation. 10 mil I would have expected a bit more quality and a few more goals from him. yes I know 10 mil isn't massive by any count but it was a huge gamble on a little known player that unfortunately didn't pay off, hence again no rush of interest to take him from us upon relegation. (panicked ; rushed buy imo)
I only hope the guy has learned a little more about English football now and can use what talent he has to have a good run in the Prem. Good luck to Abel, I wish him the best and hope he nets a bagful.
Yeah and what a massive "one that got away" from us that guy was. Such a pity. 8 mil and he showed his value straight away. Let's see what he does in the Prem. Hopefully not better than the likes of Abel. Many knew of Gray's and his potential but few had heard of Abel, same goes for proschwitz, n'doye, sagbo, diomande. Or at least I had to Google them when I heard their name.
The points moot... we got promoted anyway when people where saying the Gray might have been the difference between us being promoted or not. Gray being here today wouldn't change our current situation. He might have been a catalyst in the Bruce hatred of the first born however.
You dont need to be a fantastic player to be a good striker. Gary Lineker is a prime example. He just had the right attitude in front of goal.
Yes and he sure knew where it was. I know it is a poorer example but Crouch always knew/knows where the net is. Strikers need to be in the right place at the right time to put the ball in the back of the net anyway possible. Abel has shown these qualities last season and hopefully he can continue this.
Gamble didn't pay off, he eventually scored 22 goals in our promotion back to the Prem. Sorry missed OLM post
We got promoted anyway but a month after we should have done. That extra month could have been crucial in both the takeover talks and having to rebuild after SB walk out.
Yeah scored goals in the English 2nd tier. Luckily when we were relegated no one looked twice at him, so he had to stay and try to put himself at least back in the shop window. To this day no one has still showed an interest in him.
No-one's showed an interest in him? Half of Serie A wanted him last summer, they just couldn't match the deal he was on with us. You post a lot of inaccurate ****e.
As of last week, as confirmed by OLM, Brucie said there had been no interest in any of the players. I can only imagine the approach for Maguire was only made over the weekend.
So they didn't want him that badly did they? They obviously didn't think he was value for money, especially not what he is on here. There was no official offer on the table for Abel. So what I posted was not inaccurate.
Google what you like.... He has spent a season in the 2nd tier of English football and will now probably spend another miss firing season in the Prem. He is still here. There has been no offer an nor no approach to talk to him.
