We can't keep FF as back up due to his massive wages, so sell him and use the money to give St Alex a new contract and bring in a new replacement. We need a summer of ruthless clearing out mediocrity to avoid a repeat of this season

The big wages and his dreadful form this season are the reasons clubs won't buy him though, he will be here next year I reckon.

He has been brilliant but this is the first time in his career where he has looked this good. It may be an age thing as at 28 he is maturing and getting into his prime, hopefully it is this and not just a bit of a hot streak like Fraser had for a few games before reverting back to being terrible.

Were I Gareth, I would take him. He has obvious weaknesses, but look at our first choices. They have flaws as well, but the difference is, when Buttland lets in a goal in the first game, the press will all go..... 'Told you so..........'

Take a risk. Take a Alex.

I have seen it suggested that McCarthy should at least be considered for Russia...in form, English keepers are rare creatures and you need to take back ups. McCarthy has a calm presence....great in a keeper. He has pulled off some great saves, but more importantly he has that asset that all keepers need....he is a ball magnet.*

*This may mean he knows where the ball is going. :)

What are his weeknesses of which you speak ?!

The Bednarek thing showed me how much more we are together now. He was clearly groggy but was fighting to stay on. He wanted to fight for the team.
He's been one of the positives from the last few weeks. He's been very solid since he came in for Stephens. And it wasn't an easy time to come into the team either.

Not a bad start, either. His run to get on the end of JWP’s free kick against Chelsea was perfectly timed.

I've been pleased to see Bedi get a run in the team...needed some patience. MH may not have had many choices, but he has had a chance to show his skills...sometimes you need a new manager to give you an opportunity.

By the way, Hughes said Bednerak may have a headache, but was running around with the team in the dressing room so he assumed he wasn't badly hurt. :)

I know we are all guilty of having a go at Fraser, but, though I don't see him as good enough for us anymore, he does deserve some respect for what he has done in the past. His collapse in form wasn't a matter of choice and it did coincide with a collapse in form of the defence....chicken or egg really.

He had a bad injury and never really got back to top form or regained his confidence. As you say, not his fault, and those morons in the Northam didn’t exactly help either.
