Really sad for Ale. Exactly the sort of player we want at QPR. Never heard of anyone doing their ACL three times. Possibly young enough to get over it, but would imagine the mental damage could be too much. Ffs.
What did the consultants use? An elastic band?! Only at QPR. Wouldn't have bothered me if it was any other player......well, you know what I mean.
Gutted. I probably don't have much sentimentality for our players these days but Ale is top of the list in terms of fond affection - always seems personable and one of our longest serving players. Great qualities - hard-working, cultured player who keeps out of trouble. My sentimental self will cling to the hope he can come back again - he seems to recapture his form each time and so, if he can keep his determination as it has been through previous recoveries then there's no reason why not. The clinical part of my mind has question marks sadly. Best of luck to him.
Sad, but this is the end for Ali's playing career. From the club's point of view, the only positive I can see is that the transfer window is still open to get a replacement. Hope Harry has someone in mind. No last day knee-jerk decisions
I hate to state the obvious but that's effectively his QPR career over. really gutted about this. he worked so hard to get back.
This is far worse news and reason to be miserable than our results and performances so far. Gutted for the bloke. Sincerely wish he can come back against the odds.
Absolutely gutted for him. I've actually bumped into him a few times myself (not literally- It wasn't the League Cup) in Westfield, and I have to say that he came across as a genuinely warm and friendly gentleman. The whole Faulin-gate drama in our championship winning year was something that affected him very strongly, and he felt very bad about it and responsible, even though he did nothing wrong. Just about the nicest guy to ever wear hoops IMO, and I'm devastated at his bad luck.
totally gutted, not only our best player but also such a nice guy. I hope he makes a full recovery and if it is the end of his playing career, that he in some way stays in the game as there are few such nice people in the game.
Well, Clive was always one for the melodramatic. As for "f**ing amateur hour" is suggest the Alan Bennett of the Rs look at himself in the mirror occasionally. As for Ale, gutted for him, poor sod. As for the suggestion as to "why play him at all?" Sooper has it right. It would have happened anyway. Don't play him and there would be loads of people on here saying "Stupid decision not to play Ale" just like there were those who said "Stupid decision not to play Remy". Where would we be now if that had been Remy? At least we have other players for that position.
This is so sad. It has the feeling of the football equilalent to death. Thank you Ale. You always gave us your best & that was good enough to put you on the verge of the Argentine squad before that fateful day in Milton Keynes. Colin has stated more than once that you were by far the best player he ever managed & I remember Barton saying shortly after his arrival that he had not realised that we pocessed such a good player. For me, you are the one player that we have had in this decade that could have held their own in the sides of 72/76 & 82/84 & you will remain one of my favourite all time Rangers until I pass from this life. I hope that we have the chance to say a proper fair well to you before you head back home. Before anyone asks, NO, I don't know that this is the end of Ale as a footballer but it sure feels that way to me.
First and foremost I sincerley hope Faurlin recovers and makes the best decision for his career, albeit hopefully in a playing capacity. I would hope the club would keep him on in another role if it was suggested he couldn't play again. The Academy could benefit from his influence. I hope the other players realise how fortunate they are, and it gives them the kick up the backside they so desperately need. Let's stay up, and let's do so for Faurlin.
Agree, desperately sad for Ale. Plus I believe he showed tremendous pride in wearing the hooped shirt. Best of luck Ale.
Was who we played directly responsible for the injury he got? Some complained about weakened teams being played, then others said we shouldn't risk the better players in this game. No matter who played and who got injured there'd be someone out there stating it was the managers fault. He wasn't 'fresh' back from the previous injury. He'd played pre season and played against Hull. Most fans also wanted him to play against Spurs so not sure what Clive is thinking with that remark. Ale himself was thinking he'd be fit for this Saturdays game. The injury doesn't seem to be like previous ones where it was obvious he had done the exact same injury. Anyway I don't see it as the end of his career just yet. Maybe top flight football will be beyond him...or at least the risk for anyone to play him at that level. He has the desire and determination to try and get through it though and if we don't offer him the chance than I can see him being released maybe on his request so he can try and resurrect a playing career at some level.
Really sad for such a decent guy . Think its time for Ale to finally say enough is enough and look at other options for the future , whether that would in Football or not. Remember what a great Manager Brian Clough became after having to retire so early through a similar injust , some positives to take from that , if there are any. Sad
