The only downside that I see to us keeping Rodwell in the team is the effect that having him there raking in 60K a week will have on the other players in the dressing room getting a fraction of that and probably putting more of a shift in.

Manager needs to keep that tightly sealed. Oshea and Cattermole (as the "captains") should be making sure it isn't an issue too.
I don't think his salary will be an issue, players coming in are aware of him being on a Premier League contract, that's only usually an issue if players are brought in on higher salaries.

It puts a bit more pressure on him to perform, but he can't be blamed for being on a higher salary. Any player with an issue needs to get on with it. Contempt is a bad thing if left simmering.
