So one to avoid then . I have to admit, the players we've been linked with haven't impressed me. I wasn't expecting marquee signings but we have mainly gone for Championship level players.
Aye I forgot about that pile of Irish **** pal. Looks like they struggling to get rid of there **** signings from last summer. Long live rafa
Ah, but would we have got him for that price had we stayed up? I think closer tot he the 5-6 million originally mentioned
You may well be correct, I'm not expecting a pretty season. I'm clinging on to the hope that many people thought he would walk when we went down and then said he wouldn't last the season last year too; it does seem to be a constant media clamor for him to 'walk out'. As things stand we go down. I think we'll make a better fist of it than you guys did but that the net result is the same. If we get a reliable striker and a solid CM then we have a chance. Maybe. Probably not actually. Oh well.
I think the lack of suitors as well as everything I said above is what kept the price down and not what league you happen to be in. I'm only guessing though. Regardless of fee, you've got yourself a decent player.
Just supply and demand. Look at what Everton are doing, there's no way McGeady was getting near that team (not a slight on the player, I'm pretty sure none of ours would get near it either) so they want to get him off the wage bill. Murphy was someone who a few clubs were reportedly sniffing around and Norwich would happily have kept him so we end up having to pay a premium if we want him. Shows how the market has altered, we paid about the same for Townsend 18 months ago and he had Premiership and England experience.
Of course you'll make a better fist than what we did. We was relagated in August when moyes said what he said and not signing players what wanted to come here. I think you will struggle like hell but that could change tho. You may start signing some decent players.
