I agree that other results have gone our way, but if you set the pace, the others have to keep up and are more likely to drop points. They said before the match today that Nigel's temperament is important, because when we had a blip he didn't panic. In interview, the players have never wavered in their confidence.
But even during your blip when you were hardly setting the pace, results continued going your way. Based on your form, you should have dropped to second much earlier than you did, and you perhaps should have dropped as low as third, maybe even lower had most of the results not gone your way. No offense meant, just an observation.
Fair point to be honest. After failing to win game after game we stayed up there but at the end of the day we control the controllables and it's not our fault what happens to other teams
That's hardly luck. That's those sides not being good/efficient/clinical etc enough. We can't do anything about other teams.
Love it. "Luck".....; fanciful invention or tangible reality????????????? **** off Pompey, Pompey **** off.
There was a reason we attracted Markus and Nicola. It wasn't "luck"; we were going cheap and had potential on which to create a profit when selling.
Well, you've gotta admit, it's kinda lucky for you that, say, West Ham happen to have an off day when they're playing a team in the bottom five when they could over take you in the league for example. Though any team has to have at least some luck to be successful.
Is it our fault when other teams can't take advantage when we falter..? Is it Man U's fault that they've kept winning the title over the past 20 years, despite the fact that when they've had a few bad games, others can't take advantage..? No. Somewhere along the line, one has to accept that part of the reason why a team succeeds is because they're better than others, and that doesn't necessarily mean in terms of playing the opposition. It's the ability to keep churning out the 1-0s, the 2-1s, against other teams in good form, when your team is going through a so-so period. If Saints had continued their pre-blip form, they'd be of sight by now. But they didn't. Is that lucky for the opposition or are we lucky that they didn't take advantage..? You see, it's meaningless. The team that wins the title and/or gets auto-promotion is the one that is consistently better than the others [bar one if in second place, of course]
Exactly. Whether you win the title on 70 points or 100 points, you've still done better than anybody else. We can't help it if other teams struggle, we can just do better than they do!
- After watching that I´m left puzzled to why Chung was taken off as he did very well in the first half and could of lasted another 15/20 mins. I guess flying to and from Japan during the week may have been influential, but NA in his interview said he wanted to change things a bit, he is the boss and got it right, after a fashion.
We can only control what we do not what other teams do around us. We are lucky to be first ...we only happen to have scored the most goals in the divison,we've got the best home record in the league and we've got the league's top scorer aswell...
