My view, is not to speculate on such matters.

I don't think I'm too mistaken in saying that, there's been nothing quoted from the player and we have not had an official statement from this club.

I would not be hiding behind 'if(s)' whilst nailing a mans bollocks to the plank.

For what its worth., thats my view. :)

I think my use of the word 'if' was intended to avoid exactly what you just said, nailing his bollocks to a plank. Which is hardly what I would use to describe my speculation on the matter by the way. I've spent the last week or so defending the man on here.

Indeed we have not had an official statement, I'm assuming that is because the club would rather not make a huge issue out of it. Sky reported the story with quotes from AVB post match, whether they are true or not who knows.

I'm sure there are plenty of people speculating on matters around the forum, so you will have a busy evening.

There was never an official statement from the club when Prince-Boateng received a record number of fines. There was never an official statement from the club when Jamie O'hara was fined 2 weeks wages for assaulting a team mate.

If any disciplinary measures became public, we'd all be narked. Credit to the club for keeping this one out of the media.

For me, this subject was actually put to bed Saturday afternoon. Don't worry, I will not be busying myshelf with 'if(s)' anymore on this issue.

  15. The only recent article I can find on Ade is the lazy 'journo-with-a-grudge' article on the 20th......

Journos generally piss me off across the board these days. As someone once sang, "a newsworth (bad journo) lives by his pen, may I suggest it's likely that he lives in one then'...... Pretty much sums the pigs up!!

    * Weekend quiz - a prize for anyone who can name that :emoticon-0159-music song....... <bubbly>

  16. From the BBC website - and based on the fact that the Beeb seldom create their own reports, rather relying on others, this is probably extracted from the ES article referred to.....

    FOOTBALL
Emmanuel Adebayor insists poor organisation by the Togo Football Federation, and not his own laziness, was the reason behind his late return to Tottenham following the African Nations Cup.

"I couldn't just abandon my team," he said. "We went to the quarter-finals of African Nations Cup, which was historical for my country.

"I could not just jump on a plane and come back to Tottenham, because the president of the country wanted to see us and congratulate us. I am the captain so I have to be there. So that's what I did. Then I got the flight the club sent to me."

  18. Positive article - in fact the first and only verbatim article since his return.
He did okay the other night, his first touch was much improved and he worked hard for the team - so lets just hope he is, as he says, getting back to his best, cos we need him!!

Ade, maybe if you wanted to perform for your own personal standards, rather then just to "prove" something to the gooners then your form wouldn't be so poor.

Frustrating for the club, but his reasons for late return seem legit enough, typical for a figurehead in Africa (Togo president) to throw in an unscheduled request everyone has to drop everything and bow to. As far as etiquette in that culture goes, it would have been highly insulting if Ade, as figurehead of the team, had not been there. A pain, but fair enough.
