  3. Some people must be well pissed off that Benny has been shown not to be the malevolent traitor he was being made out to be....

At the moment, he is still a class above Rose, who is at best a work in progress. Danny may well progress to earn an International cap here and there, but he isn't even 4th in line currently. And if anyone in their right mind considers we have another suitable LB then I would strongly recommend psychiatric care!!

Well I totally and utterly disagree with you Totsfan.
Rose has played about 5 good matches for us before he got injured. Benny had about 3 good seasons. Let's watch Rose have a continued run of games in the side before making judgments.

If you want a L/B who needlessly gives away silly goals, you stick with Benny

You could say that about all our defenders from time to time.
Really how many goals did he actually cost us?
No more than any other defender at the club I would bet.
    Funny how our biggest thrashings
in about 17 years have been when he isn't playing for us.

Wasn't Rose at fault for Arsenal's goal? Anyone with half a brain would know that leaving a speed demon like Walcott with the space Rose did was suicidal. That goal was very much preventable and a silly (and costly) one to give away.

Rose has a impressed me but he's nowhere near the level Benny was under Harry.

  10. Why should I see your posts on another thread??
Do you think that if I read your pearls of wisdom I will change my mind?

When Rose has performed well for this club at the highest level for 4 years I might well have a different opinion - but not otherwise.

I don't see how Assou-Ekotto would make us worse. Even if you think he's not as good as Rose, surely having both is better than having either one individually?

Fryers has done ok on his last few outings for us, but he'd probably learn more from a loan where he was playing every week.
Having two decent left-backs to choose from and a youngster earning experience elsewhere might be best for all involved.

Doncaster's first the other week for example. But tbf he's been good for us in a disinterested sort of way. Our last promotion season Spurs recalled a decent fb in January as well, so I'd take it as good omen!

That's what the pundits on MOTD would have you believe but I simply have not seen it happen very much in the last six/seven years.

To denegrate BAE after all the seasons of evidence he's given us as to his quality and then say that Rose is better on the strength of a handful of so-so games, a handful of OK games and a good loan move to Sunderland is absurd.

It's thinking like that (absolutely no regard for the evidence) that led to us appoint The Best Young Manager In The Premier League/Europe.

BAE has the advantage, too, of not being injured. So yeah, he can add something that Rose cannot - he can play football.

As Lenny points out, he can improve us by actually being available to play. Rose can learn from his experience and we can use both in the various competitions that we're in.
Being able to rest them when needed, have someone ready to play when the other's injured, suspended, out of form or struggling with fitness would improve us.
Not having to play Naughton out of position or shift one of our limited centre-half options over to cover would also improve us.

I suspect they equal in number those who may think the cumulative Adebayor/BAE antics
didn't pass the point of no return for the club some time ago, regardless of who was / is / will be manager.

  19. Indeed - and they would be entitled to their opinion. I guess I am just rather more forgiving, based on the alleged original cause of the dispute and think we have seriously suffered at LB as a result of the now ex-managements man-management!

He would have improved us while Rose was injured - and that's why you need 2. He is better than Naughton and a pissed off Vertonghen. When he first came along we had him and Lee fighting for the place and that is how it should be
