Then we started at the same time. I was in Mrs Mills Class in the Infants school, lovely woman. I never kept in touch with anyone except Patrick Holmes and we are still friends. Having said that the odd person did pop up from time to time.
Have been away from Norwich for many years, apart from when visit my family. This is a great way to keep up with the gossip. Did you know Patrick, Jonathan Weaver, Keith Lambert, Clifford Stringer, Richard Weaver,??????

Richard Minkler, Alexis Hitchins, William Wallace, David Hill, Alec Baldwin (RIP), Andrew Todd, Andrew Lake, Richard Bond (a la BBC Look East fame), Dale Wiseman and Me ???

And the teachers; Miss White (babe), Mrs Liss, Mrs Garrett, Mr Kite (who could forget him?), Mr Bug, Mrs Pigney, Mr Carmichael, Mrs Bean and The Head Mr Robinson

Anyway mate, it's getting late back here in Old Blighty, I'll catch up tomorrow <ok>

Yes remember all the names, some were friends, most played football ,except William Wallace, who despite being a little odd, I got on with very well. This is quite good fun. A guessing game.
I am sitting here, just finished work, drinking a cold beer and am watching a massive tropical storm going on outside.
I was in Mr Kites class for 2 years and received many a beating for my inappropriate behavior. In my last year I was in Mrs Pigneys class, another very nice teacher. i am deliberately not asking who you are, I am trying to guess. As long as you are not one of the names already mentioned. ( I'm not)
I try some girls names, Jane Ashby, Hayley Dyball, Karen Pillow ( a good friend of my ex-wife) Dianne Bloomfield ( I bumped into her in Taverham sometime around 99/2000) Bridget Fields. Anna Davis, Susan Craddock, who I know went to Australia. This is really difficult, but hey, it was almost 40 years ago.
Just been called back into work, problems because of the rain, will continue later

LOL <laugh> I actually became quite good friends with William Wallace when we both went to the Hewett School. You're right he was eccentric, he used to keep his pet mouse Charlotte in his top blazer pocket. Every now and then it would pop it's head out. It used to freak the teachers' out and he was forever getting disciplined for it ! But just like all of the others I lost touch with him, God knows what he's up to now ? My best mate after leaving Avenues was Gary Wear, don't know if you recall him ? Unfortunately he's had, let's just say, grave issues and we haven't spoken now for about two years it's all very sad.

A couple of the girls I remember, (probably because I fancied them at the time), were Valerie Ives, (I believe her father was the Vicar of St Thomas' Church at the bottom of Caernavon Road), and the Aussie girl Kim Lancaster. Kim actually 'went out' with our 'friend' Carl Grapes when we were all in Mrs Bean's class together.

This is weird mate, strange thing is Avenues was a fairly large school so although we both remember a lot of names we may not even remember each other ?

You are correct, indeed Valerie Ives father was the vicar at St Thomas's. Remember the name Kim Lancaster but not the face and yes I also remember Gary Wear. Talking of strange, do you remember Melvyn Moore. Never been married or had kids and apparently is living at home with his parents. i have trouble recalling names but when I see them I remember. I am sure we know each other. I was always with Patrick, Joe Evans, Keith Lambert, Clifford Stringer and various other n'er do wells. I was often in trouble with both Mr Allen and Robinson (who was a total c**t) but i did play football for the school and represented the Middle school for 5 years at the city sports (often in trouble but never lazy). Always had a little bad boy charm that the girls liked :emoticon-0103-cool:
Ok, a few more names Alistair Thomas, very clever guy. Philip Durban, Jonathan O'Byrne and me went to the same school after the Avenues because although often in trouble I was quite clever.
I think if you were friends with William Wallace then maybe you stayed away from the likes of me. If you cannot guess who i am then i will let you know. I think it is just a case of distant memories.
I mean how many people do you bump into from Middle school??? Most of the girls will be fat and ugly and the guys fat and bald (please excuse me if you are fat and bald) me no, still have all my hair and teeth and almost no gray :1980_boogie_down:
I hope to be back to the UK sometime in the next 6 months (work permitting) catch a game (my brother has season tickets) and catch up with some old friends, maybe we can meet up for a beer.<cheers><cheers> Keep wracking your brain, you can do it. Tell me a few of your friends, might give me a clue.

Bloody hell, Melvyn Moore that takes me back, yep I remember him. I'm struggling now for names tbh. I remember the Bedson brothers, I think Keith Bedson was in our year ? I also recall that Keith Lambert once got me sent off in a game at the Earlham Rec. He said; "****ing hell", or something along those lines and Mr Kite thought it was me ! Keith also came into my Showroom several years ago, he recognised me straightaway. Anyway, getting back to football, I used to play for Avenue Middle up front mainly because I used to pester Mr Bugg as I was so keen, normally got taken off unfortunately cos as well as not being very tall, I wasn't that good either ! <laugh> I suppose my best friend at the time would have been Andrew Todd as we grew up together on the same street, I haven't a clue where he is now ? Do you remember the Adjosi brothers ? (I think that's how you spell it),they were quite unique at the time seeing as they were the only black kids at school. Me and Nick Adjosi were the first kids on our street to have skateboards !!!! We also used to hang around with a girl called Elizabeth, I think her surmname was 'Bale' although memory escapes me. I have also had business dealings with Nick in recent years too.
Another name you may remember is Simon Todd (no relation to Andrew), he lived on Stafford Street, he went up to the Hewett with me but the poor boy was suffering from leukemia and died very shortly afterwards.
I was in Mrs Garrett's class for two years and used to sit next to an Italian girl, Carla Zavanaiu. I also used to go to Mr Kite for maths which I never liked, he used to call me 'Sphinx in the corner', there's a clue <ok>
I recall going to Clifford Stringer's birthday party one year where we played the board game 'Wembley' for most of it !
Blimey, ain't it strange how the memories come flooding back ? I also remember there was a girl called Lorraine Tuttle who had a large birthmark on her face and the poor girl used to take abuse, how cruel kids are eh ? Makes you cringe when you look back.
Did you ever go to the Earlham Rec on a Sunday morning, watch Mackintosh's and play footy at the same time ?
I'm getting carried away here <laugh> Do you remember the school dinners with that awful bloody mashed potato served up with an ice cream scoop and that hot tomato 'sauce' they used to pour over the cheese flan ? :emoticon-0119-puke:
Anyway, I still can't place you and although I'm not bald, due to my beer intake, I do have a waistline that I'm not proud of ;)

Remember Andrew Todd but can't picture his face. Simon Todd was a very good friend of mine, so many of us were devastated when he died, went to the funeral and continued to visit his grave for several years after. I remember Carla Zavanaiu and have spoken with one of her brothers Tony on one of my last visits to Norwich as he is a business associate of Patrick Holmes. (still my best friend after 43 years)
School dinners, loved the cheese flan and tomato sauce but hated the roast beef with dry roast potatoes and the meat with yellow gristle:emoticon-0119-puke:
Some years ago I did look on friends reunited and find several people from our school.
In the last 10 years my visits to Norwich have been very infrequent, so much changes so quickly, always confused when I get back. Many of my family still live in Norfolk and Suffolk, still love the coast. have traveled all over the world and seen many beautiful places ( i live in a tropical paradise) but Holkham beach is still my favorite place in the world.
sen d me a mail and I will tell you more. Have a good day and has been great to talk with you:emoticon-0100-smile
