An example of digital art I would say, for what I know? I enjoyed visiting your FB page Gloucester - really unfortunate that all the nastiness had to creep into this thread. My 13 yr old daughter is currently drawing similar art works from photos - she is quite good too - right now she is on family members. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
OK everyone, fair play we all have differing opinions and they are just that, opinions. Why don't we all just agree to disagree and get on please. Life's just too short. Again I very much like your work GloucesterRanger, I'm no expert and I personally would not be able to do a job that good however it was drawn! Peace!
Im with you on this on NY, but only as far as Charlie is concerned,. Cant agree with your views on art but its your opinion.
Way to go, UTR's ..................... It really upsets me to see a great thread get butchered simply because a person decides he doesn't like something and or how something is worded. So how do you offer an opinion? Start bagging anyone who says your words are out of order ......................... well, that is really poor. The way I see it, if you don't like a thread that is posted by 'one of us QPR fans'; ignore it and move on. Sure, we all bag other teams or people from other walks of life at times BUT surely we should'n find the need to bag one of our own who has taken the time to put together a wonderful drawing; then having to justify his worth ............ wrong! Opinions are welcome but not at the expense of downing a member. Anyway, that is how I see it .......... rant over.
Well said Sir! I came here with just the same thought. As many a Grandmother would have said... "If you don't have anything good to say, say nothing". It's a shame when someone comes on to share something close to them that the thread diminishes into a dissing of one another. Come on guys...there's many more topics worthy of friendly debate, disagreement and discussion on our team - the slagging off needs to tail off (IMHO).
My apologies to all for getting into a slagging match on GR's thread. Was, quite honestly, unnecessary and I should of known better. Sorry
It's a shame that a benign thread like this, which I started as I wanted to share something QPR themed with other QPR fans has fallen the way of so many threads on here. I hoped many would see the drawing, maybe get fond memories of the players involved and share stories of them (as was done on the facebook QPR supporters page), maybe enjoy the skill and effort involved in doing the piece, and yes maybe also get a few words or encouragement....it's nice to get comments that appreciate what's been done. Let's face it, it's not exactly a controversial thread where I'm implying I'm something I'm not. If people want to call it art, great, let them. If you don't want to call it art...then don't....no need to suck the enjoyment out it for myself. As was so eloquently said above by a few fellow R's if you have nothing positive to say then just move on. Many thanks for the positive posts, very much appreciated. Maybe the mods can close this thread and let it disappear gracefully so people can move on to real QPR issues that warrant strong views.
Don't let them drag you down mate. I couldn't draw water from a tap but I'm mean with music. We all have different talents.
Just seen your artwork, Gloucester. It's very good. "Art" is interpreted broadly by all but the narrow-minded!
Gloucester, if you are unable to take criticism you really should not post on a blog that will be seen by many, and Goldhawk, even narrow-minded people have a view of art. The new thing these days is that anybody who doesn't agree with you is wrong and is a sad commentary on the way things are going both here and the UK.
Would never dispute your right to have a view, NY. But restricting the definition of art to traditional painting and the Masters is narrow whichever way you cut it.
Who does that, not me. I think Banksy is an artist, I think Warhol is an artist, I even think Lloyd Wright, an architect, is an artist, I just happen to think that making an exact copy a photograph is not art.
Oh I CAN take criticism. I debated my point of view with reasoning and examples. Apart from saying I thought your view was narrow minded and one dimensional (as at that point you only gave Rembrandt and Monet as your idea of being an artist) I never got abusive at all. Maybe if you were more incisive with what you were saying at the time and less mocking there wouldn't have been any comebacks from the other posters here. As I said just above it's a shame a benign harmless thread had to be made into a bigger issue than it should have been.
Oh I should have also added earlier that I have done drawings that were not taken from photo's so maybe I CAN call myself an Artist.
Congratulations to QPRNY for turning a simple and pleasant thread into a rather unpleasant one. I'm surprised by you and your responses, I truly fail to try and understand what makes you go like that? Here we have a decent and regular contributor to our board, who has offered us an insight into his personal world beyond his avatar and you feel it necessary to poo-poo him for it. Despite Gloucester Ranger's surprisingly reasonable and measured responses you still feel the need to continue with your odious tone. Well done.
