I met with people from the club this morning, and in my view, it was a good, positive meeting, with good positive outcomes.

As a summary, the stadium people are to offer up the flag, to see how it will fit on the wall under the security box. That's their preferred site for logistical reasons, and in my view, if it fits, it's a prime spot. They'll take photos of it, and I'll put them on here for comment.

If it doesn't go there, they've offered to hang it on one of the big gaps at the back of the stands. There are some gaps that have cross pieces, which helps.

All of the above was freely, and happily offered, it wasn't a case of me negotiating or demanding, which given the work going on, plus preparations for the rl tonight, I think bodes well for any future flags.

This is going to piss off some of the posters and the bile they've spouted on here. A few apologies would be nice but not expected

    Yeah good luck with that.

Dutch - I know we keep saying it but thanks again. Taking time out of your day to sort this, after everything else is pretty remarkable.

Just seems to me that if Dutch hadn't kept pushing for this, the banner would have ended up collecting dust in some store room.

How so, Chazzman? Could be that the club didn't give a rat's until someone realised there was another embarrassment coming up.

Care to name name's. I think i can safely say everyone on here is fully behind the flag and DMD efforts to sort it. Willing volunteers and all that, compared to the multi million pound business that is Hull City. The club have again said it will be done and i am sure it will be eventually. As Mr NIKE say's "just do it"

You're bumping your gums as normal. Are you telling me that the banner is made of ocean-going sail quality material? I don't know who you con for a living but I'm an engineer and I find that particular line ridiculous in the extreme. Someone put it in a cupboard and was not aware of all of the Hullabaloo, yeah, okay. 'Contrary to what some people think' ? Contrary to what was reported on here, more like.
They did as much as they could do to not do it until they realised it wasn't going away; that's my opinion and I don't believe you can disprove it, so why do I need to apologise and who to? Certainly not a scrote like you. <ok>

"I can't say the reasons offered are true, but I can say that I don't doubt if they could have put the flags in the gaps, they would have done. If we're being spun a yarn, so are they."

Your words from the other thread. You're just guessing and making the best of a rum do. Well done for getting this far (no more speeches needed) but, unless you wish to contradict your own post, you really can't prove me wrong, can you? Far from it is nearer the mark.

You're doing your usual trick of trying to change the question again. No doubt because I don't answer the new question, you'll try to say I'm the one offering the circular argument.

The issue of structural stress was made by people outside the club. The club simply relayed that message, along with the fact there were logistical problems for them getting it up and down for games. The club actually looked for solutions to the problem as there are other reasons why they'd like it to be a goer. It's not a 'never' for banners at the back of the stand, it's a 'not yet'.

Your claim was that the club only reacted when they saw the positivity of bad press, the texts and emails I had with the club don't support that, in fact far from it. To an extent, the quote of mine you've used supports that.

Why would I bother defending them if it were untrue? It would be easier for me to deflect things by laying any 'blame' at their door.

Personally, I like the position, and accept the club's argument about the logistics of putting the flag up and down. If you've a suggestions for another position, or a simple solution to the problems of putting it in the gaps, shout out. The club will listen.

Stop trying to support your argument with your normal nonsense about me; all I have done is copy and quote your own words.

The 'sail' point is ludicrous nothing less and anyone with an ounce of mallam would challenge it.

The rest is what you want it to be.

If you can't discuss this without resorting to your usual personal nonsense then the conversation stops. <ok>

And you've done exactly as I suggested you would.

Your claim was that the club only reacted for fear of bad press. That's not true based on my 1st hand experience.

The structural argument was one of a number of points, and wasn't even raised by the club, they did challenge it and are looking at solutions, as they want it too.

If you put your engineering opinion in writing, along with your supporting evidence and calculations, I'm more than happy to take them to the club for them to show the engineers. That'd be wins all round.

I can confirm what DMD is saying, I've been in dialogue with the SMC also (regarding the Cobb Morley banner, which will be finished this weekend by the way). They told me anything that is going to be attached to the structure, whether it be a banner, TV box or scaffolding for the TV cameras has to be authorised by the company who built the stadium to see if there will be any structural integrity caused by the new addition. Specifically, the banners we've been discussing with them in the gaps causing a 'sail effect' which is why it's been hard to find a location due to all of the sponsors as we can't cover any of them.
