I am somewhat optimistic about Saturday. I don't think that Liverpool have found their best formation and adapted to BR's style of play. They have some very talented players (Suarez/Gerrard) but they lost a massive game against Man U after a highly charged week and are not great travellers. We are due to give someone a shellacking and I sincerely hope it will be the Scousers. Looking forward to seeing Holty kick off his season with a goal or two! I think we need to get something from the game as unfotunatley our next two are pretty tough and then we have Lambert - The Revenge.
A lot of people calling for Pilks back (when fit) but so far from what I have seen of him this year he has looked poor. With the exception of the cross for Jackos goal v QPR his season has been littered with wayward shorts and over hit crosses, coupled with a lack of pace and willingness to attack full backs because of it. Im not saying he is bad because on his day he is quality, but so far this season, he aint been owt special.
Great time to play them, players dropping like flies & its not like they have looked anything above average to start with. Easy three points I reckon.
Liverpool aren't the team of old and if you put up the same kind of show that you put up against us I think you'll take them. One place beneath you, be nice if you could push them further down. Good luck anyway.
It's not going to be pretty leading up to/during/after the game Whatever happens, the Liverpool fans will be on here like flies on ****.
Well at least elliot ward won't be playing this year vs Suarez. but then again if bassong is missing.... it'll be interesting how both us and l'pool do in the cup (they have WBA). i hope we put out a strong team and win vs Donny rovers, and the strikers get in the goals, not just the midfield. Will do their confidence some good. Fingers crossed chris H doesn't do a Lambert and completely change the team
Conversely it work against them though and I am trying so very hard to not make that come over as being negative
Hate to say this, and I am far, far from a doom mongeror as I hope is appreciated on here, but I personally have a bad, bad feeling about the Liverpool game. That said, all you need to do is look at my performance in the cpl and prediction leagues to see that my predictions are usually way off the mark!
I feel generally positive about Liverpool I think we just need to bare a few things in mind. 1) Wednesday's game is now all the more important. I want to see a strong squad and I'd love to see holty play 90 and bang a few in. A mauling would do us a lot of good. We should also trial fox and tettey if we can as there's a gap in central that needs filling which leads me on to: 2) Hoolahan is a must start, he's technically our best player and if utilised correctly. He can create and is also better at tracking back than he ever has been. 3) Holt is out best shot at regular goals atm. He must play through this, I believe he has what it takes. I'd play him with his little mate Jackson, as he looks lively, with hoolahan behind. The defence builds itself it's just the other midfielders I'm stuck on...
If we play Holt, Jackson and Wes against Liverpool then there is no sensible way that we can play Snodgrass as well and not expect to be overrun, and I can't honestly see wee Bob being left out at the moment.
I think snoddy does contribute defensively quite well as well It's a shame we don't have Bennett down the other wing, he's defensively much better than pilks even if he isn't as prolific. I think snoddy and Bennett could be a great r/l combo.
I agree that Snoddy does contribute defensively, but surely ask him to play even more defensively will negate much of what he's best at, and that's his attacking play. I absolutely love the guy myself, and I'm sure most of us do - he's well on the way to becomng my favourite Canary
I think if we're looking at balance surman probably needs to go, he doesn't contribute enough going back but is a very clever player. I think pilks has been missed, he was playing very well with garrido. The most frustrating thing about this is I think we just need a slight formula change and we'll piss all over people. Finding it is tricky though
Agree with both statements - Surman should make way for either E Bennett or Pilks against Liverpool - wouldn't mind seeing what Butterfield can do if he's fit.
I agree Beefy. More importantly, CH thinks exactly that too, as he said in his post-match interview on Saturday.
I'd be quiet if I were you. I've restrained myself with your currently little "situation" but I'm willing to give you both barrels if you want me to?
