Just 9,419 were present to witness Newcastle beat Wrexham 4-2, with goals coming from Waddle, Varadi, Trewick (pen) and Brownlie.

Shhhhhhhhh, 5 Goals, they don't really have empty seats, it's just that they wear plain red shirts instead of red & white stripes and it looks as if there's nobody sitting in them.

I was at this match! The season was all but over , it was the old second division and we had finished i think 5th missing out on promotion. Thatcher had introduced "members" only and the ground was fenced in. It was also raining. Quite frankly we did well to get 9419!! Capacity was 34,000.

By the way....three weeks later we signed ...............Kevin Keegan!
