Where have I said that ? All I am saying is to leave it to the people involved, they obviously know the ins and outs of it, nobody will spend millions without it going through all the legal aspects of it. I have faith in the people running our club to make the right decision.

Seems a fair question to me also.

The honest answer is I don't know. Feel free to disregard everything I'm about to add.

This is my understanding based on what someone at the council told me (not reliable though) and the snippets I read in the press. (Anyone who knows better please correct me, I'm sure there are plenty on here who know the details). Here goes;

The council pay a management company to run the Liberty.
This company has revenue streams from us, the Ospreys, Corporate facilities and Rock concerts etc. (not sure about the catering).
The agreement states that the management company takes a percentage of ours and the Ospreys gates (I am sure that their take from us is exceeding expectations of the business plan and the they are losing money on the Ospreys).
The council are unhappy because they are receiving very little money from the management company and a few of the councillors, including the new Labour leader of our council, have been very naughty making politics of this (talking about how much money we make in the Premiership and insinuating that we should pay more now that we are in the Premiership).
What is a fact is that we must be the only party involved exceeding expectations and are honouring the contract signed.
I would suggest the Ospreys are paying next to nothing, probably losing the management company money, and that the management company are either incompetent regarding maximising the other revenue streams or, more likely, just doing enough so they make what they need and paying the council the minimum they can get away with.
To be expected that a private firm look to maximise profit, perhaps the council should have managed it in house....then again :cheesy:

Regarding your expansion question;
It would seem to me that given the Council's frustration with getting any money out of the management company, our apparent liquidity, and the promise of an even bigger gate for the Council to have a share of....we hold all the cards regarding getting the OK from the Council for our expansion (will most likely involve a different arrangement regarding management) and the Ospreys will have no say whatsoever.

Can any of you Red Dragons explain the situation with your stadium? I should admit that I have some inside info on the arrangement and can promise you that Cardiff Council wouldn't look out of place in Greece :cheesy:
 
all it confirms valley is as usual and you have been told by others that you dont know what you are talking about. we pay rent the stadium is not ours, show me documentation where it says the liberty is ours and we are the controllers and we can do whatever we like to it......happy hunting..<laugh>

We are partners, the council who own it are the ones to grant or not our expansion plans. And as such they are in a much better position to know what can and cannot be done. As per terror's post we do not in fact pay rent, as it's widely reported the management company pays a percentage if they make a profit, they never have.

As for suggesting that I have said we own the stadium you are putting words into my mouth I haven't said. Like I have been saying all along, let's leave to the people who truly know the full story, you and I do not know. The clubs and council know exactly what plans are afoot with this.
 
Terrorwit you seem to have got the gist of things regarding the stadium, the issue financially is the Ospreys, they will never fill the ground, and I see them going else where, as for you Dia, what the hell are you on these days? If we had no control over the stadium, then how come Jenkins and our board, got the McDonald's planning, that was getting in the way of our proposed expansion, moved across the road? Sit down will you, your embarrassing us! Try and remember your Premier League now....................<laugh>

Right, I noticed clingon asking, and Dai making an idiot of himself because the expansion IS going ahead and plans are going through the planning stage at the moment. How do I know? Well, I know.

Clingon - the reason we'd spend money on something that isn't ours is it means we'll have more bums on seats, which makes us more money. Not really rocket science, is it?

Dai - Don't you get tired of being wrong? Granted I've only known you online for a few years but your track record leads me to believe you've been wrong about everything all your life. I bet you were consistently bashing Toshack back in the day!

By god he's got it...yes we are partners in a stadium that we dont own and we pay rent...we do not have the right to do anything with it unless all parties are 100% in unison. the council would have the final say and if the ospreys who are equal with us say no then nothing can be done until an agreement is made where all parties are happy and that could be for ever....just like our academy and training ground......<ok>
 
Have I said anything else other than we are partners ? of course the council will need to ok the plans beforehand, but as they are partners in the stadium do you seriously think they will not allow plans that is for the betterment of the facilities ? <doh><doh>

But as I said lets wait for the decision makers for all parties to decide what to do. You saying its impossible is not strictly true is it ? Otherwise you would be able to explain why it's not possible
 
swans fans cant make statements like its going ahead.<doh> that shows how little they know. just because jinks has mentioned expansion does not mean it done and dusted. jinks knows he cant make any decisions on his own and your a fool to think he can......It would be nice in a few years time when or if we establish ourselves in the premiership which is going to be hard to do anyway. there is more than just us who has an invested interest in the stadium. In fact the whole of swansea has an interest for all different kinds of events that are held there. it belongs to swansea as a whole and not the swans property...we pay rent to use it and should we ever fault on that then we could even be kicked out......
 
We don't pay rent, that has been proved in the annual accounts by the club and the management company. And the decision to go ahead if that is the idea will be a joint thing between all parties. So as I keep on repeating let's wait and see if it will go ahead or not.

The funny thing is, you guys are arguing amongst yourselves as to whether on not it will go ahead. It may well do and it would be good for you if you maintain your status.

I'm not sure being a tenant makes you a partner, but that's by the by.

If it costs you £15M to put another 15k seats in and you fill every single seat for 20 games for 2 years you'll break even (rough numbers), and you don't own any of those seats. So the question remains. Would you spend money on something you don't own.
 
Probably the same reason why my mate spent £30k on a pub that he don't own, it's to make money from it. It's a different scale of magnitude but the principle is the same. Also the club are tenants yes but they are long term ones and it's not likely that we will move anywhere. Though the ospreys could follow the blues lead and move to a smaller ground, though it will be a hard sell going to neath
 
Yes . is the short answer ,who knows what the future holds , The ospreys may do a cardiff blues and leave the stadium, not that they're contributing anything at the moment and that looks to continue with all the big name players leaving. One day we may be in a position to buy the Liberty and therefore it would make sense to invest in increasing the capacity while we have the money , the positive publicity the City has gained through being in the Premiership and increase in tourism for the local area has to be a factors to be considered. We've progressed steadily for years and this is another step on the ladder
