Neath / Port Talbot council is a different council mate, they don't have a stake in the stadium so have no interest in us.

Proposed Academy - Swansea City Council Area
New Training Facilities - Swansea City Council Area

"Field" funny how you should say that Musty, but a lot of the lower league clubs have nothing more than a glorified 'field' as a training pitch! Was down the West country last week, and took a nose around Plymouth Argyles, ground and training facilities, and was surprised to see that it was nothing more than a glorified field! and to think that they played and trained under those conditions when they were in the championship. I would also add that the facilities that Swansea share at Llandarcy, is streets ahead of what I saw at Plymouth. I do know they have plans for a new stadium, though when, I have no idea!................ <ok>

Thing is Dragon the Swans did upgrade the pitch down in Llandarcy when Martinez was there, spent about £150k on it if I remember. It still not ours though despite the upgrade. So with the glamorgan and that other complex down there the facilities are okay.

But we still need our own training complex, and there is a world of difference at the moment to the greens, they are a team struggling in league 2 and we are a team flourishing in the premier league, we should have world class training grounds because we can afford them now as we are in the best league in the world.

I've been to a couple of the PL training facilities. Man U, Man City, Arsenal, Spurs & Chelsea and trust me they are state of the art. Man City planning on spending more millions on water facilities not just for the 1st team but academy as well, basically there building duplicate centres. Think the scheme is costing well over 15m and thats only for two buildings, no pitches.

As a training facility we need to build and build now, plus the academy needs to be resolved. From what can see we are developing two centres Landore & Fairwood, I gather Fairwood will be the the main training facility. But it's just not pitches that's needed, swimming pools, plunge pools, physio suits etc. All are need for a top class PL training facility.

All of this may have to come in stages.

Also, Martinez has persuaded Dave Whelan to build an indoor training pitch at a cost of £1.5 million. Something we should also consider.

The Swans were offered Llandarcy as a package for 2.5 million but declined the offer .it's important to get first class facilities for all age groups , we are a professional club playing at the highest level and therefore to attract the best in players, and coaching staff then we should be looking to provide the best the club can afford. The majority of the time that the players are actually working is during training and to think the best surface that is available is either an old Neath league pitch or indoors on artificial grass ,I'm sure we can and will do better .I recently went with the Swans development up to Arsenal and to see what their youth have to train on compared to us shows how far behind we are .
