The way I look at it, Tony has a point. Your defence (barring a couple of games) was fairly solid last season, you've fetched in two centre halves and a full back then a forward who's unproven in this league. I think it's worth considering also what Bri is saying though, Advocaat has had a full pre-season with the squad, Defoe has been rested for a decent period and you have no major injury concerns going into the new season from what I gather.

More could have been done, especially to seize the good opportunity the fixture list seems to have thrown at you, there are points there in all of your opening four games and if you walk away from those four games with an underwhelming amount of point then you have to look at squad preparation and available players. Having said that, if you have a strong start, the remaining few weeks allows the manager to tinker where he thinks can be further improved and push you on to the next level this season.

Swings and roundabouts isn't it, so STOP ****ING ARGUING!!!

This is my take on it all:

I have always said when you sign anyone they must improve your side.

So lets look at it:

Out: Wickham In: Lens (improvement)
Out: Vergini In: Kaboul (improvement)
Out: Rev In: Mathews (Jury still out)
Out: ???? (probably Bridcutt) In: Mvilla (improvement)
Out: Gus Poyet In: Big Dick (improvement)

Add Defoe from the start of the season this time and Coates who took time to settle in and we are looking good.

Then there is a fit Gaicc who was injured most of last season.

We will also start the season with Pants in goal who is a better keeper than Manone.

We need Bridcutt, Buckley and Fletcher/Graham off the wage bill next and 2 new players in.

Its all going in the right direction, Rome was not built in a day.

hopefully the increased quality in the middle of the park gives Rodders the required kick up the arse.

it is make or break season for him, he must recognise that. can he show the promise of his youth, or will he fade to grey?

Just not sure he's up to it anymore Nordic.

Some players just like the physio's bench too much.

Good song.

Little ray of sunshine. <doh>

Now you're starting to get the intentional irony in my post, but you're not quite there yet. The post was meant to be every bit as negative and bleak as the OP's. It was sarcastic and meant to show that although there's great parts to our tony, it's easy to ignore it and lay nothing but negatives. The word like was a monumental give away that the mag comment was a comparison and not an accusation. A lot of my post has gone over people's head but I notice some of the posters who know me best, and who get me most knee where I was coming from. <ok>

Alls well in the world then. Adios.
