I don't think Aguero is finished but (as you've quoted Fergie and I'd imagine Pep is the same) you got to know when to think about replacing players. Agree about the goals, they have some good players who will always do the business in a poor league. Doesn't necessarily mean the squad's not on the decline though.

Aguero is a beast. But he is so injury prone and that will probably only get worse as he ages. You can understand why City play him and want to keep him as their main man, but they must be thinking about a replacement for him at some stage. Trouble is, how do you replace Aguero ? And at what cost ?

Oh agreed, they need fresh talent. I still think they have enough to go another season before they need to look at midfield/attack though.
Silva will be hard to replace but i think with Foden and Bernardo they will cope, not sure if Jesus will ever be capable of covering Aguero but he's not too shabby.
Stereling and de Bruyne have a few years in them and Rodrigo will eventually cover for Gundog, Mahrez will need replacing in a couple of years and they have some decent youth coming through.
All in all i think 2 or 3 players per window will keep them at the top at least for the foreseeable.

Funnily enough the vast majority are in the Prem. And quite a few diamonds in the rough touted in Serie A but not what I'd call big name signings.

That's probably the only one. And they'll probably turn him to **** because the problems are bigger than just one CB. They need a rebuild imo, replacements for Silva, Fernandango and Aguero.

Foden I’d imagine will replace Silva, he really does look a ****ing quality talent, reckon he’ll make the Euro’s next year if he gets the game time for City which I think he will.

Think Rodri is seen as Fernandinho’s long term successor although he’s got a long way to go to get to that level.

Aguero... Irreplaceable in a sense. I reckon some clubs will look at Haaland next summer if he has another season like he’s had and City will likely be one of them.

You didn't really answer though did you, yes you said they had the financial clout but never mentioned any merchandise (players).

They could make a bid for any world class defender, that’s what I’m saying.

Let’s face it, not many clubs put these players on the market, so there is never going to be a ready-to-go option.

Yeh Haaland is a name I was thinking but he won't be going anywhere for a couple of years I reckon.

I agree with a lot of what you say btw, but it does put paid to the idea City are going to be spending big money on many players which is what I was asking HIAG.

More and more of the "big name" signings are becoming kids with promise. Haaland at 19, doing the job with ease at present but i am dubious about the German league, Greenwood with us at 18 looks the part but has played half a broken season, sessegnon at Spurs was the next big thing at Fulham but can't even get on the bench now.
Big money for promise and a lot of hope thrown in.

I wouldn’t rule out a move next summer tbh mate, providing he maintains the form he’s shown that is. He’s looking like the ‘next best thing’ and City will surely fancy a bit of that. Bloke’s only 20 and had 4 clubs already so I don’t think he’s the type who’s bothered about sticking around or not and Dortmund themselves always seem happy to sell if the price is right, they made about £90m on Dembele after just one year lol. They’ll just find another gem anyway, it’s what they do. Unreal scouting network, have no problem saying I’m jealous of their setup.

I honestly think we could do with Mbappe and Neymar to compete this year.

Shiekh needs to splash the cash.
