Heard tonight that Smallwood from Blackburn has turned us down on the grounds of wages :emoticon-0148-yes:

We wouldn’t match the money he’s on at Blackburn.

My prediction: come closure of the window. Taylor goes to Brentford; no player comes in; neither loan or permanent

Mr Chairman says, 'we tried very hard indeed, but unfortunately we were not able to bring anybody in. He also went on to say, ' l did say that getting Lee Bowyer to sign a new contract would be our best piece of business this window........'

Is anyone coming? This transfer window is following the same path as previous Windows.

Always worth paying attention to Rich Cawley at this time of the season. He says again that nothing is imminent. Quite incredible really. I can’t help feeling that certain people are getting found to be out of their depth. We need at least 4 signings by 12 noon on Friday.

Players keep on turning us down on wages. Maddison, Docherty, The Blackburn bloke, Winston Reid. It looks like Idah, Parrot might well stay with their parent Clubs.
We don't look like we want to spend any money. There are a number of players in League one that would improve us. But it would take a transfer fee, which ESI don't want to pay out.
I can see a Joe Dodoo and a Josh Parker coming in at the eleventh hour.

Southall's statement that he would have to do things the fans wouldn't like may be playing out sooner than expected, that would mean selling Taylor. His other mantra that it "has to be sustainable" appears to be another euphemism. This window is very Roland so far, which makes me wonder about the "hereby granting power of attorney" to Staprix. Could he really be still controlling the finances? Say it ain't so, Joe.

Matt also said that 'the Belgian one' had done a good job at controlling the costs at Charlton so we were a lean operation... plus... he keeps talking about FFP... worrying.

We lost Gallagher because Swansea offered a higher % of his wages and a loan fee for the six months... ESI couldn't match it, incredible :(
We also refused to buy the Blackpool striker because Blackpool increased the asking price since the summer. What else do they expect? He's been banging in the goals this season, so his value has gone up accordingly.

Florentin Pogba is the 2020 Joe Dodoo. Or Josh Parker.
