Got to disagree. This season is about competing. Today's signings will make a positive contribution, to what extent we don't yet know. But if 21st place is going to satisfy you then you are easily pleased.
Have Kayal and Hemed gone through? And are both loans? Gallagher, Cullen, Field, Leko, Kayal and Hemed is 6 loans, isn't rule maximum of 5 allowed in the squad? If the Brighton lads have joined I'm very happy with today's business
I'm looking forward to seeing our new players. I know nothing about any of them except Cullen, so will reserve judgment. Bowyer himself said that he had been outbidded for players previously, so the ones we've ended up with were not his/Gallen's first choice. However people who know more than me seem pleased, so until Saturday I'm pleased too.
Where do the 2 from Brighton play; l assume they are not forwards? If so, we still do not have any forwards to assist Taylor!!!
One of the Brighton lads could be a perm. Bowyer saying he has got an early morning call about bringing another player in. He says we need cover for right back position.
I would suggest that these very same people know as little as you but are happy to see new players. They were probably spouting the praises of Josh 'messi' Parker when he ambled into The Valley last season.
Yeh shut up for once Elfs, I'm only hearing good things about Kayal especially Bowyer and Gallen won't have just signed them for the sake of numbers, these are good players. Centre mid is where we were desparately lacking at the start of July, I'm delighted with our options there now
I'd take that. Douchatelet has lowered expectations, and we still have the smallest budget in the division. Going by past form Yellow Teeth will want to balance the books in January in his own inimitable way. But pleased with the situation? No! I want to see Bowyer able to build something, but we'll have exactly the same situation next summer whatever happens, including Bowyer's contract running out, and I don't expect him to do all this wheeler-dealing every year. So I'd take 21st.
They won't all be fit at the same time very often I shouldn't think. No disrespect intended, just law of averages.
Just listening to Charlton Live. They have featured interviews with the new players, and every one talked about looking forward to playing under Bowyer and learning from him. They used to say that about Curbs too, but not until he'd been doing the job for much longer. It's remarkable that he has made such a name for himself in such a short time. We know how good he is, but his reputation is spreading fast it seems. Any other owner would have him on a long term contract and give him proper backing.
