The brutal truth is that the only teams being historically successful in the last 10 years or so are Utd and Chelsea and in last 5 years City (and Arsenal to a lesser extent with 3 FA cups in 4 years). You also have to mention Leicester due to the astonishing nature of their Title.
Trophies won in the last 10 years (no com shields or other glorified friendlies)
Utd 10
Chelsea 9
City 3
Others 5
Arsenal 3
Liverpool 1
Spurs 1
As for Spurs they are undoubtedly progressing but until they win big on a regular basis they can't really be successful IMO, just like liverpool TBF.
A league cup every 10 years is really going to cut it.
In the long term no one (bar a teams own fans) remembers finishing 2nd in the league or losing a final. History only remembers winners. It's that unbroken success that builds a dynasty.
As for the top 4 and CL it's brings money and prestige but I doubt many fans consider getting dumped out at the group stage or absolutely hammered in the last 16 as successful.
But then again, i'm not from the Far East, America or an Accountant, so what the fook do I know.
Well said.
City should be on 5 trophies though.
Interesting the others
Wigan fa cup where are they now?
Pompy fa cup 10 years ago... ditto.
Swansea league cup... struggled since
Leicester league... total rubbish.
Birmingham league cup. Also done.
All those clubs fans loved their trophy. It gave them happiness
