Assombalonga looks a far better prospect than Wells.

Far bigger fee as well.

Massive shame if we miss out on Chester, especially if it's to a Championship side. What a waste of talent that'd be. Same with Diame really.

Got to say it`s a no brainer for me, the lad knows the club, the players, the style of play, and will fit next to Davies like a shoe in, we are desperate for another cb, yet we dilly dally around and ask the question when the deal to Villa is as good as done.

I really don't understand this attitude. When everyone is fit, if he was here, he'd be my fourth choice. Chester was decent at Premier League level, very good at Championship level, nothing more, nothing less.

We need a CB desperately, he is a very good player and has improved with Wales. He would fit right into the team spirit we have which is the only thing we actually have going for us a the moment.

Actually off tack slightly - with so many defenders out what has happened to Lenihan? Is he still around? Injured? I think Ive missed this one.

not sure, he went to blackpool and broke his leg i believe? a season or two ago and not heard anything since
 
They were just on about Chezzy on the radio as I reading this saying what a good signing he was for Villa, was fairly unsurprised to see one comment already on here talking the lad down, one of our best defenders in recent years

Would have been amazing to get him back and would easily have been our best defender over the next few years as Dawson and Davies start to wind down. Given his history with the club there was the potential he could have been a legend of the club. Heartbreaking to see him go elsewhere when he would have been the perfect signing given our state.

You were questioning his quality. Could you suggest any other players of his quality who could be persuaded to come to our shambles of a club? Most that might would be mercenaries, potentially bringing a bad attitude which could spoil our team spirit, as opposed to Chezzy who is a great professional who loved the club and the area and didn't want to leave in the first place. As I said I don't believe there is a better signing we could have made at this time.

Where did I question his quality? If calling somebody decent at one level and very good at another is questioning their quality then what must you think when I really criticise a player?
