With the nucleus we now have, I have a great feeling we'll be ok. Come January, in a good position we can tick off key positions. Lets get Lenihan fit as I feel that full back is a specialist position and I would rather have Elmo playing further forward.

We're in a lot better position than we were a fortnight ago. I think we probably have the resources to get to January although we'll need a fair wind to avoid injuries and suspensions in key positions. We still do not have a complete first team squad so are at an obvious disadvantage compared to our opponents. However, we can at least now look to the future with a bit of optimism and it's been a while since we've been able to say that.
Summer 2014?

well, just logged on this a.m. for the first time siince about 9 yest evening and whilst things could have been better, they could also have been a whole lot ****ing worse, so i'll take that. The weakness people point to is full back cover, but that weakness could turn into a blessing in disguise if Lenihan and Tymon get some game time and step up then good for them and also make them (well Tymon anyway) more likely to stay long term

Exactly. What's the point in buying these 'next best' kids if we get a replacement as soon as regulars get injured. We have Dave and Elmo. If Elmo gets injured, give Lenihan his chance. Same goes for Tymon. Hull have wasted kids for too long, time the academy pulled it's weight.

I'd have a 4-1-3-2

Marshall
Elmo Livermore Davies Robertson
Mason
Snodgrass Thudd Henriksen
Hernandez Mbokani
SUBS Jak Maguire Clucas Weir Keane Maloney Meyler

It's going going to be a task to fit them in. Good luck Mike Phelan

Totally agree, there is absolutely zero point in having back-up when as soon as someone gets injured we go out and sign somebody else. On another angle, take a look at Jake. We might have found his bets position by accident and we might find excellent players in the talent that we already have.

I think the reason we've not strengthened at full back is because Phelan has faith in the young lads, they're clearly our best prospects from the academy. I'm surprised none of those who have been ****ting on some of our signings have thought this, probably because it sounds like a decent argument.

The number of people who complain we don't make buys in certain positions then also complain we don't have enough kids coming through...

We are in a lot better position than we were 2 days ago! Well done Mike Phelan on getting some good players in and boosting the squad. Like others have said I reckon Phelan must trust our young defenders in case of any injuries and for me the players he has signed say we are going to be more attacking this season than we were under SB.
