Mentioned him a few weeks ago, he's ex Man U so that'll be why Phelan knows about him.

For that price yeah.
There are worse defenders to be linked with. On a free transfer he'd be good cover and I'd rather have him waiting in the wings than Bruce Jnr.

<yikes> OMG............ so much for your player judgement <doh>

We are in trouble if any of these come to pass. NO NO NO end of.

Not sure on that one sterling, think he made 7 appearances this season in a team that was hopeless. We need a decent quick centre back. I'm a bit worried about Dawson tbh, foresteri (I know that's spelt wrong) left him for dead in the final then he made a mistake that Davies had to come across and make a tackle

Very uncharacteristically.

How many times hve you seen Michael Dawson do things like that in the two years he's played for us?

Do we even need another centre-back? I imagine Dawson and Davies will start most games and we have Harry as well. Bruce is decent back-up.

I would like a few more options in case of loss of form/injury than just Maguire. Last time we were up we had Bruce, Dawson, Davies, Chester, McShane and Maguire. Probably don't need 6 this time, but 5 would be good.

I agree about Dawson, not sure what happened to him in the play-offs but Davies saved our bacon at the KC and at Wembley. Davies surely needs to start in the Prem again but if he gets injured then theres a vunerability there. The other thing about Dawson defensively is that he backs off players way too much. I think Derby had his number at the KC and I still can't really believed we survived that game.

Dawson is in a different league to Davies.

So it matches Mike Phelan and the scouting team's reports? What a terrible thing.

Taylor fair enough, on a free I thought he'd be handy but if we're willing to shell out some cash for a decent centre half then I'd take the latter option. But Norwood you need to ask some Reading fans about. The lad is very talented.

Don't base your judgements solely on a) How much we are paying b) The team he is coming from and c) whatever other bollocks criteria you judge players on.

Their fans feel like they're being mugged off and aren't happy about it.

Signing players with a point to prove. Its the way to go. Got to have that hunger to prove people wrong. Thats what drives Drinkwater Vardy etc.

Absolutely. It's also why I think Huddlestone was so good in our first season back up. Norwood hasn't played in the Premier League, but like Clucas and Odubajo I'm sure he'll be desperate for a chance to try.

Apparently a 4 way battle with Burnley, Bournemouth & Swansea! It's going to be down to wages & who's willing to spend!
Unfortunately player power is at its peak!

I'd like to think we're a better prospect than Bournemouth or Swansea. But Burnley is his home town so that could give them the edge.

No problem with Norwood myself... he's fresh blood and should be hungry for it. I just don't think he's necessarily the midfield bossing type I'd have wanted. Not to say we could attract a better calibre of midfield general...

Hopefully we spend big on a couple of strikers and a good winger.

At the moment (though it's very early) it doesn't look like we're bringing in strong enough competition for goalkeeper and midfield positions though. That's my only worry.

Seems like we're padding the squad out rather than strengthening.

Diame is a very good mid in the PL, he was brilliant pre-injury for us. Livermore without the mental issues he had last season will also be tremendous. Huddlestone and Meyler are decent depth.

Both weren't tremendous this season I wish I shared your optimism but I don't
I really think with the cash swimming around like I said clubs in the same predicament will be bringing in players with a lot more ability than Livermore and diame.
We need to be looking at a higher calibre of player and being abit more ambitious.
Somebody mentioned padding the squad out if we do that were down
We really need to push on and consolidate as a Premiership club to do this we need to up our game in the transfer or scouting market

Make some ambitious blow your socks off signings city or stay a yoyo club

Didn't we do that last time?

As there's three months until the transfer deadline, I wouldn't worry too much about inactivity. We don't usually start signing players until mid-June anyway, everybody is on holiday at the moment.

I'm not suggesting he suggested that

And I'm not worried on the 4th of June

Stating what I'd like from city in the coming transfer season
