Don't think it was played as many as 5 or 6 times from memory. My point was it wasn't played enough and for long enough to give it a chance to catch on, and it was tinkered with which didn't help. I heard a few trying to join in from the East Stand but then it was suddenly cut short. When it was sang by City fans on the NSF going across to Lokeren it made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, and it was taken up by 100% of those on board. Also when sang at Beautiful South ( or even Couch) and Paul Heaton concerts it lifts the roof off. City fans I know see it as our song. We almost had one years ago at Boothferry Park. Peters and Lee, 'Welcome Home' which was sang once as a pisstake when the Kempton was re-opened after a period of closure and it suddenly took off then tailed off again at the end of the season. Still heard occasionally at away games especially from the Gooligans. C of L, with a bit help, would fit the bill but I have a feeling that not too many of our fans are that bothered about a club song. Or any song for that matter.
There was a couple of renditions of 'Welcome Home' in the pub at Rotherham, indeed started by the Goolies
Yep I remember last Christmas the Gospel singers sang it at Home and had the North stand joining in. After the long build up to the chorus they cut it off literally right before the chorus so that they could blare out eye of the tiger or whatever as the teams came back out.
Matchday experience ffs ? How about getting the basics right first like the purchasing of match tickets that some fans want to do but cannot / wont due to the club putting obstacles in the way. What was in place pre-2016 worked well for those who needed match by match tickets. Have the decision makers ever heard of the saying ""If it isn't broken don't fix it""". ?
