As Aintree has drawn to a close only Punchestown's Festival stands between us and a potentially underwhelming flat season as Frankel has departed for his new job at stud. That leaves us with a search for a new star as, to my eye, none of last years Classic generation are capable of dominating.

Is Dawn Approach the good thing I think he is?

I've been backing him with chunks of winnings from Cheltenam and Aintree and have developed a decent enough stake on him at 7/4.

He's been the subject of exceptional training reports and was clear of his 2 year old rivals. In my eyes they'll have to improve a hell of a lot more than he does to beat him in the first Classic.

Has anyone got any views?
 
I like Moohajim alot, hope he has developed as well as i was told he has. Dawn Approach is pretty good though and I look forward to seeing him in action again soon. But there is no superstars around of such..yet!
 
Camelot was in a group of about 30 horses Aidan O'Brien sent to work after racing at The Curragh a few weeks ago.

Rewind a few years and I'm lumping on Saint Nicholas Abbey for the 2000 Guineas at 5/4 as he was streets ahead of his peers as a 2YO ................. <whistle>
 
7/4 certainly looks a bit short. I'm on at 7/2 antepost and that is short enough for me for the Guineas.
I also like the look of Toronado (9/1) and Olympic Glory (14/1)
 
I was a huge fan last season of DUNDONNELL and feel that he is overpriced by those bookie chappies (25/1 available).

The old boy looked very, very good when he won York&#8217;s Acomb Stakes. Didn&#8217;t have the run of the race in either of his subsequent starts but I&#8217;m still of the opinion that he could be a major player come 4 May.
 
after his win at the Dubai World Cup meeting I fully expect SNA to win the Coronation Cup on Derby day
 
i quite like the look of mars. Seemed to move stylishly in that after races gallop, and looks like he is definitely headed towards the race. Obviously the fave will be hard to beat but you don't have to have a lot on at the prices.
 
I think it will take something very special to beat Dawn Approach, he is impeccably bred, and nothing could get near him as a 2yo. Unlike his sire New Aporoach who was done a nose in the Guineas, his breeding suggests a mile will be his optimum:biggrin:
 
I'd say Mars will be to slow to win a Guineas, looks more of a Derby horse to me. Still though as you say Bob hasn't beaten much so far, but he is very well bred, so he's no doubt capable of beating better horses than the ones at Dundalk :biggrin:
 
Maybe he is hyped, only time will tell. 7/4 a month away with a trainer who's 2000 guineas record is 0 doesn't tempt me.
 
Dawn Approach was very good last year and crucially he has remained with Bolger. If he has trained on he will take some stopping, especially as 1m looks optimum.
 
I am almost tempted to have a rare antepost bet, and really lump on Dawn Approach @ 7/4 with the way Bolger has started the season, 3 more winners today for him, to add to the already impressive start to the season. Dawn Aporoach looked very special last season, and bearing in mind hes an April foal he is likely to be even more superior over his rivals as time goes on :biggrin:
