These are great days to be a Sunderland fan.... we have the makings of a great team and the club seems to have a vision and purpose about it. I'll just enjoy what's happening and let's see where it goes.
Just for comparison, last time we were in the Championship we had 6 points after 10 games and it took us 21 games to get the 15 points we currently have.
Dear me, that's a damning stat which is made worse by us having 4 points after 2 games (drew v Derby and won at Norwich).
Really exciting to see this group showing so much quality in their football and application and hanging in games like Saturday when we were so up against it in terms of physicality.
Great stuff. Can’t wait to get back home on 1st October for the Preston game.
I think the quality they are showing and the potential they have is far beyond anything in the last 20 years or so.
Agreed mate.
Brilliant to see the team spirit as well. Looks like the new lads have been welcomed with ooen arms and are flying already which is credit to the whole squad, coaching team and behind the scenes.
Long may it continue.
I agree about set pieces. I get frustrated that certain fans on both boards and in the ground expect him to pile through a mass of bodies to claim a cross. I've got no worries at all about him being our first choice keeper
Yeah was a nice touch to see a few lads tweeting about Bennette's goal. He is likely to be the one who will find it most difficult to fit in but seems like he is straight in to it and has hit the ground running.
Agree with all that is written above, we are way ahead of schedule, and considering the circumstances this is nothing short of remarkable. OaU
these days a 'keeper almost always gets a free kick if there is any contact (probably more a premiership thing mind) even if he simply runs into the crowd and bounces off them...which is another stupid rule that seems to have crept into the game, although leaving it to the officials to call a foul is not the best way to try to defend.
remember one game of ours a good few years ago, defending a corner opposition player turned, ran into the box and jumped into our keeper (might have been gordon) with no attempt to get the ball, they scored and the ref had a completely clear view, in fact in one replay it actually looked as if the player was looking at the ref, he then gave a little wink then did his run as if he had waited for permission...might have been milwall or wimbledon.
Was it not Stoke? I remember match where they scored a couple from set pieces where they wrestled Gordon and got away with it!
That should be a pearlerDear me, that's a damning stat which is made worse by us having 4 points after 2 games (drew v Derby and won at Norwich).
