These are great days to be a Sunderland fan.... we have the makings of a great team and the club seems to have a vision and purpose about it. I'll just enjoy what's happening and let's see where it goes.

Very good start and probably could have been better points wise, conceded a few late goals and haven't been soundly beat in any of the defeats. All 3 we could have come away with a point maybe more against Norwich. Class if they carry the form on for the whole season!

Dear me, that's a damning stat which is made worse by us having 4 points after 2 games (drew v Derby and won at Norwich).
Really exciting to see this group showing so much quality in their football and application and hanging in games like Saturday when we were so up against it in terms of physicality.
Great stuff. Can’t wait to get back home on 1st October for the Preston game.

I think the quality they are showing and the potential they have is far beyond anything in the last 20 years or so.

    Agreed mate.
Brilliant to see the team spirit as well. Looks like the new lads have been welcomed with ooen arms and are flying already which is credit to the whole squad, coaching team and behind the scenes.
    Long may it continue.

Yeah was a nice touch to see a few lads tweeting about Bennette's goal. He is likely to be the one who will find it most difficult to fit in but seems like he is straight in to it and has hit the ground running.

these days a 'keeper almost always gets a free kick if there is any contact (probably more a premiership thing mind) even if he simply runs into the crowd and bounces off them...which is another stupid rule that seems to have crept into the game, although leaving it to the officials to call a foul is not the best way to try to defend.

remember one game of ours a good few years ago, defending a corner opposition player turned, ran into the box and jumped into our keeper (might have been gordon) with no attempt to get the ball, they scored and the ref had a completely clear view, in fact in one replay it actually looked as if the player was looking at the ref, he then gave a little wink then did his run as if he had waited for permission...might have been milwall or wimbledon.

i know we have not seen a great deal of the new lads but from the minutes they have had it is obvious that they are not short of confidence and skill, i was quite surprised at the way they 'knitted' into the team as if they had been here a season or two, it was really good to see.

Agreed. Had lots to contend with when you think of it.

    Losing a popular manager.

Stirrings in the support against the model. (some justification btw as lack of a 3rd striker has been a worry and the lack of a proper u23s coach who could be a credible caretaker is dreadful continuity planning)

Main 2 strikers and defenders injured - 2 of whom were new signings.

On paper a really tough opening 10 fixtures as well.

The players deserve all the plaudits they are getting at the moment as they haven’t used any of the above as an excuse and have produced some really good football. Look at the difference in hunger to this squad and the ones Moyes, Grayson, Parkasaurus turned out - it’s night and day.

Was it not Stoke? I remember match where they scored a couple from set pieces where they wrestled Gordon and got away with it!

that could be it...trying to think of the fecker that did the wrestling, i have a feeling he was some ex mag or 'regular hate figure' but he simply just ran from the edge of the box around the defenders and leapt into gordon.

I keep noticing the media mentioning 'the project' and the journey we're on.

I know some of us won't believe we're on a journey until we get to the destination ...

... I've already bought me ticket and put me bait up <laugh>
