Funny reading all the Pompey fans tweets and saying how we are a worse club with worse support in another 'half empty' stadium.... The irony...
Can see alot of people will need the samaritans hotline number this season, any one know it please post it for them.
Not read any post here yet but just got into car. I hope the muppets aren't slagging Nigel or the boys off as I was so proud of the boys today. Great display, great work rate, and in the end just got done by a quality striker and an old fart in midfield who should have played 150 times for England.
its all well and good being proud of the team and coming away with credit from pundits and opposition fans but at the end of the day, until we find a way to win games we will remain at the bottom of the league. In all honesty we probably should have had 6 points from both Manchester games.
Well said FLT, I'm afraid it's been a bit like the end of the world on here. They looked great on tv, and were undone by a bit of bad luck and some great players.
The other question is will the fans and team create the same sort of performance at lesser games?, i was at the Wigan game and we were awful as was the atmosphere.
Cannot believe I missed Lambert's goal because someone was very late to the game and completely blocked my view.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing and I guess the substitutions were responsible for the defeat, one thought, why do they water a wet slippery pitch, it cost us the first goal when Clyne slipped and created our second when the United defender lost his footing allowng Spider room to score.
Just got back from the game and i'm gutted obviously. Have to say however that i am proud to be a saints fan. We may have lost but we have managed to dominate the game against one of the top sides in the league. I expected a hammering today but was pleasantly surprised with how our lads composed themselves. I think all the players (except fox) had solid games. My top players were Puncheon, Lambert, Sneiderlin and Lallana. Puncheon and Adam ran United ragged, Lambert made Vidic and Ferdinand look worse than they actually are (which is pretty bad) and Spider was a rock in midfield with countless interceptions and beautiful passes. So at the end of the day i'm more than happy despite a loss. Now to drink...
Just got back and thought we played really well...playing like that we will beat a lot of teams. We've scored 4 goals against 2 of the best sides in the PL. Lambert has proved he can score in PL. Puncheon was very good and worked well with Clyne. Have no problem with subbing Ricky who was beginning to flag, but risky to take off Puncheon and Lallana when we had no defensive or ball holding players to come on. JWP did well but got cramp late on. Fonte is just not good enough. Said I wanted us to play well whatever the result...well we did so mustn't complain too hard. We should get even better when our new players are available.
Nice combination of gutted and yet pleased. Very good performance but when their third went in it felt like a kick in the bollocks. Oh and to everyone who booed Guly when he came on, please don't come back to St Mary's.
