Could he do both? I don't think there's a rule against sponsoring your own team (as long as its arguably market value). Our wage bill will likely double or more though.
PSR and SCR doesn’t bother me so much next season as the actual cash flow of the club. I’m not saying we have cash flow problems now but Acun isn’t a billionaire and even I have to give him credit for converting large chunks of the debt into equity because it’s not insignificant and it’s coming from his own business Acun Medya or his personal net worth. He said he plans on converting another £15-20 million chunk of the debt into equity this summer as well.
It would help him and us if his Turkish billionaire mates started pumping serious money into the club as financing rather than sponsorship. The Biscuit Man buying a 25% stake in the club would be more valuable than a McVitie’s sponsorship right now.
We could…but unless we stay up that would be a nightmare in a couple of years time!I think Syd mentioned this but due to amortisation, spending £100 million doesn’t mean we’re limited to 10 £10 million players
This window we could spend £240 million spread across 3 year contracts and it would cost £80 million per year
Not taking into account psr and ffp
Indeed, and the money doesn't come all at once, with tv money spread monthly and prize money paid at the end of the seasonOur wage bill will likely double or more though.

Rich men’s toysWhy would anyone buy 25% of a business that is almost certainly going to lose money?

No in short! You must log in or register to see media
Amortisation of transfer fees is only relevant to PSR and the new SCR. It doesn’t actually mean a lot if the club doesn’t have the financial clout to pull off expensive signings.Amortisation of transfer payments and the actual cash payment structure are not necessarily the same thing.

Acun is waiting for the players to come back from Vegas. He sent them with a wad of money. One of the players was waving it in the picture taken when they were on his jet. Anybody any idea of how they are doing at he table. Sure rumors will fly once they are back. Vegas 0 Hull City $100M.Weird that we haven't had any actual rumours yet.
Not like we won't have had our targets before the final anyway, so the lads being on holiday shouldn't stop that!
I agree. We’ll see a few eight-figure signings but they’ll mostly be players in their early-to-mid-20s with resale value like Sidiki and Diarra at Sunderland rather than spunking it on wages for older players. Pace, power and athleticism is key. A few experienced heads on free transfers will be solid additions too but players like Modrić and Lukaku are neither realistic nor necessarily desirable.Catching up on this thread.
Does anyone seriously think we will or should spunk fortunes on some of the names mentioned, like Modric, Lukaku, Bowen, Robertson, Vardy, R Henry, .... and "a sprinkling of players toward the end of their career with deep PL experience"? Surely not. It ain't gonna happen nor should it. It would be utter madness! They would cost a fortune in wages, with little to no future up side.
Dublin and Serg may look to pull in a Xhaka equivalent out of the bag somehow, but they primarily have to come up with some gems, mostly from abroad, that don't cost a fortune, that have the potential, and the still missing power and pace.
I'm sure their list will be full of players that fit that sort of bill. There's a couple that Serg was keen but unable to bring in last season, who we most likely will see as early signings.
I hope to hell we're not spending on some of those names mentioned, and I'm pretty confident we won't. In Dublin and Serg we trust.
Would have said Omur if he hadn’t just had a honking season in Turkey. Think he’s good enough but seems to be doing a bit of a Nick Powell.
It's still unclear what really happened there. He was on the verge of signing until the restrictions hit, and we did later spend loads of money on wages, so we clearly felt we could afford to spend. How many payments we failed to make and what the root cause of that was is still unclear....
As we saw last summer, we couldn’t or wouldn’t pay the loan fees and wages for Louie Barry and being in arrears to other football clubs is arguably worse than falling foul of financial regulations regarding spending in relation to revenue. You could argue that PSR/SCR is a deterrent against clubs spending beyond their means. Having liquidity issues is worse than having a sugar daddy owner who can afford to keep spending money even if the club doesn’t make much money.
We didn’t make any wage payments for the months he was on loan with us and didn’t pay the loan fee instalments after the first instalment until we got hit with the sanctions. It's still unclear what really happened there.
