Well they're not rushing on the Maritime Museum, the opening date has moved again, it's gone from spring 2026 to summer 2026. Please bear in mind summer reaches to September. Why would they rush to finish it,when they’re earning top money on overtime

6 1/2 years to refurb (assuming it is actually reopened next summer).
Sorry but that's plain ridiculous.
why is it ridiculous ? Do you know the scope of works or Heritage hurdles involved??

Agreed for once .Well, taking longer to refurbish a building than it did to construct the Channel Tunnel or to build Hadrian’s Wall does seem a tad excessive.
I’m not talking about that, but I’ll leave i there as I’m not sure what’s public. Its might be part government funded Den, but surely the work was put out to tender...?
Wish I hadn’t started this.It certainly doesn't seem to be with these infrastructure projects .
Highways England projects massively overrun on time and cost .
If there where clauses they would all have gone bust .
Private sector building runs a lot quicker .
Forget you mentioned what Den, can you remind me?Wish I hadn’t started this.
I was just referring to one of the reasons for delays (I’m sure there are many) which would have been the same whether it was public or private.
Forget mentioned it!
We are notoriously bad at delivering projects on time .Wish I hadn’t started this.

Summer 2026.Anyone got an handle on the work that is supposed to be taking place at Ennerdale Leisure centre? Its been closed since about April for repairs and improvements, but everytime I've been past there. I've seen absolutely no evidence of any work going on. Those working at other centres ie Woodford, don't seem to have a clue when or if it will open again.
Fair enough....I know they got a grant from Sport England for about £750k allegedly, to do the work, but not seen much in the way of action with no cars or work vans in the car park or guys on site....I suppose something might happen soon.Summer 2026.
Yes Notre-Dame rebuild is quick, quicker than the Segrada Familia in Barcelona, scheduled to complete in 2026, they started it in 1882! a tad longer than Queens Gardens and Castle Street. In April 2019, Notre-Dame Cathedral was badly damaged in a devastating fire. Ever since the flames and smoke subsided, a five-year race began to repair and restore Paris’ crown jewel of Gothic architecture. It mostly re-opened to the public on December 8th, 2024.
