How annoying is the Villa manager ffs …

… running up and down the touchline, playing every pass and waving his arms around like a trackside bookie.

No idea how the players can concentrate with him dancing around for 90 minutes.
Deb noticed that! She said is there something wrong with him! <laugh><laugh><laugh>

Worth noting there’s been a lot of talk around AFCON - wasn’t many africans in the team today. Sadiki will be the obvious miss and Talbi in my opinion was probably the worst player on the pitch for us(minus Reinaldo) I think we’d be just fine coping without him for a few games.

FWIW I do think Talbi shows glimpses but he’s far too soft and is really lacking confidence, he goes back more than he goes forward. No doubt he will grow into the season though.

I thought it was talbis best game for us today, he was all over the pitch

Just catching up and thought I had to say how proud I was of that today. Yes Reinaldo was stupid but I guess coming from Athletico under Simeone he will have some of that in him. It's the downside of aggresive competitive players. Shame he's out for 3 games but he's been quality so far so won't give him too much stick.

The other 10 though were brilliant. Villas goal was definitely against the run of play and until I see a replay I won't judge Roefs too harshly. I said in the ground it looked like it went straight through him but have seen comments that it was moving all over the shop. Wilsons instincts as a striker are top drawer and that's what got him the goal he deserved today. If we had lost that game it would have been a travesty. Special mentions for Alderete, Mukiele and Sadiki i thought those 3 were phenomenal. Shame for Rigg to get hauled as he was playing well but it was the sensible decision to make. Opinions on who fills in at left back do we bring in Masuaku or move Alderete there and play Ballard in the middle. With 2 away games coming up I'd opt for the latter as it will make us more solid then maybe start Masuaku against Wolves when we will look to get at them.

All in all a great display full of grit, effort, determination and quality. We truly could be building something beautiful right in front of our eyes.

Can anyone explain how Maatsen got booked for fouling on a corner and we didn’t get a pen?

Ref was useless. At one point when we were attacking, the ball went behind, he gave a goal kick and then changed his mind to a corner!

I think he will claim that on the Maatsen one, that the ball was not in play though I think he was just frightened of himself and the atmosphere. It wasn't your typical sterile PL telly game!

That's what I reckon with the ball not in play but it definitely looked like it was, he was all for villa giving them fouls for players falling down especially mcginn

he was just starting to impose himself on the game. Bloody shame he had to make way but that's why tactically , Reggie had to make the change when he did, I'm pretty sure he didn't want to but needs must.
The way regis was looking at him coming off his face was saying "I'm really sorry" think we can expect rigg to be starting against notts forest
