I keep reading some of the suggestions on this thread and thinking that people are going to have to manage their expectations a bit better if they want to avoid disappointment.

But then I think how ridiculously ambitious some of our targets in the last couple of windows have been and think it’s maybe me that needs to realign my expectation. Targeting and competing for players like Kilicsoy, Orban, Adingra, even Marcus Edwards at championship level was pretty audacious so I do wonder just how high we might aim now we’ve got Prem status to back it up.

Having said that, we obviously didn’t get any of those over the line, probably because they were too ambitious (Le Fee is the exception to that but that’s purely the RLB connection) so the club will need to strike the right balance and carefully tread the fine line between having lofty targets and wasting its time. I have absolute faith in them to do the right thing regardless.
All you can do is try and by the accounts of many ITK, we have tried.

I don't know mate. I just find it surprising that, without one,he's able to visit other clubs to see what they have to offer. He's still our player, under contract.

very much doubt he has a release clause otherwise the media would report it. I’m sure we’ve allowed him to visit the other clubs just out of courtesy, the same way Birmingham allowed him to visit us plenty before he signed

I reckon us being determined to keep him is all negotiation tactics. Or at the very least it means we will try to get more money for him.

Still best case scenario for me is that he stays and becomes the £50m player next summer that we all expect he will

Likely there is a gentlemen's agreement with him and the club in the same way there was with Clarke. Speakman has always said they recruit lads on the basis that there is a) a pathway to the first team and b) they won't stunt their progress when it's time to move on. The club have been quite canny in recent years and I'm sure if Jobe is in Germany, he's there with the club's blessing. I'm also pretty sure the club will negotiate the best deal IF Jobe decides he wants to move.

Personally, I'm amazed he doesn't want to give the PL a go, even if only for a year.

What’s hilarious is actually some of them players went elsewhere as they were ‘a safer bet for the PL’

None of them did great, a couple may have fit better here.

Nobody seen us coming. Even when we were in the automatic chase we were dismissed, only respect I recall was from the Leeds fans, fans of the only side that was genuinely better than us.

And again, here we are, Lions on our sleeves….
That’s true about Leeds fans. I know loads and have had tonnes of respect. I think all that was pretty mutual. Proper clubs that played decent football for the most part this year.

As one of four I’d take him.
Possibly yeah, he looked the real deal as a kid but 3 totally different styles of play under different managers has really destroyed his development. Lot of his best abilities were coached out of him it felt like and now he's in a really weird place - probably have a good career but not the sort of project I want to try and undertake when every game is a cup final.

yeh but if there’s trust there then we might prefer everything done in full visibility. Ie we would rather know about and trust him to go visit other clubs, rather than tell him he can’t until we accept an offer and then they do it behind our backs anyway.

his camp are sensible enough to know Sunderland need to accept an offer. And Jobe is professional and intelligent enough to not kick up a fuss.

I have no problems at all with him visiting clubs and wanting to do what’s right for his career. Would much rather that than an agent be just getting him to the club offering the most like happens to most players

Watched the lads get off the bus at st pancras hotel after the game and Speakman had Jobe's pre game track top on with Jobe on the back seen that as a bit of a parting gift

It will be more Speakman speaking to the family the KLD you'd have thought

Connolly 2.0. I’d be very reluctant.

If these clubs are showing him round, they must have had some indication of the likely fee we're going to look for him. It's almost like an auction.
Maybe it's some kind of attempt to get a deal in place to buy next summer,or,a deal to buy now and to loan back for a year?

Champions League clubs have asked us for permission to speak with Jobe, we're doing the right thing by letting him discuss what could be an amazing opportunity for him. Even though its really unlikely, there is still a chance he stays. We dont know if these clubs will offer him guaranteed starts or not yet, there's plenty of factors yet to be decided.

The advantage we have is he has 3 years left to run, hes happy and comfortable here, hes guaranteed 30+ prem starts in his preferred position next season (provided hes injury free) and of course he is only still 19. He will also have a lot of goodwill with the hierarchy and know we will do whats best for him ultimately when the time comes.

Not getting my hopes up he will stay, but Ill take a random lad on twitter saying KLD is fighting for him to stay for now. You never know.

Id be getting Aleksic to Holland
Seelt to the championship
Hjelde to the championship
Abdullahi is a tough one, he could go to Holland, Scotland or Belgium for me. Or even league 1. Maybe a replacement for Kone at Wycombe.

Only one returning loan player should be knocking about and that's Triantis. Hopefully get decent fees for AA, Ba, Rusyn and Ekwah. Matete, Pembele and Semedo will probably leave for nothing.

Jones and Bainbridge need loans. Middlemas too.

Maybe not to that degree, Connolly had many many other issues outside of football. Ferguson is still probably a £40m asset to Brighton

Aye maybe slightly exaggerated but I just don’t see it. Even when he was doing well he looked tidy rather than potentially special.

I heard a link to Calvert-Lewin earlier, please no. Ferguson has some similarities to him in terms of burst out then flatline.
