Score twice away from home and you usually take at least a point.

They say you make your own luck and we did, just a shame that it was bad luck.

Argyle had a couple of lucky breaks with the Ballard own goal and Patterson's parry, but I'm not going to blame any player, because they all tried to win the game, but came up short on this occasion.

RLB will make sure that they learn from this game, so I expect we will see a positive reaction against Boro next week.

RLB will probably have learned more from this game than any of the others and I trust him to put things right. Roared on by a packed home crowd, I expect us to take the game to the team from the small town in Yorkshire like we did against the small town in Lancashire and emerge victorious.

We can't play well every week and a full weeks preparation without the disruption of Internationals will make all the difference.# Still Top

Bet over the road is on meltdown! Some of the twitter comments man! 1 loss in 5 games and the world ends!

Not seen any of it, but seems we helped them quite O the next one

I think Le Bris will learn loads from that today.

Disappointed to get beat given we were winning at HT. If anything the first goal seemed to galvanise Plymouth as they had a good spell at the end of the first half.

In every other game we've managed to ride that tricky 15 min period at the starr of the second half and didnt today. Its bloody unfortunate, its a very good save from Patto and Ballard is just trying to get back in. Its poor from him for the penna, get the ball clear and you don't have a challenge to make.

For a poor half you'd take 2-2 when Mundle scored, another very good finish from the lad. 3 in 3 games, that is very encouraging. Theres even a bit of hope for us to use the momentum to try and win it.

Their third goal is stinking. Its a shot from distance and you'd back Patto to do better, hold the ball, or get it away anywhere but back out into the mass of bodies. The rebound is not even well hit by Edwards and goes under him to compile the mistake.

An off day in defence. I feel that we missed the experience of Alan Browne in midfield today. Hes the calming influence and we didnt get him on the field early enough.

Exactly.

You can't just substitute players after ten or fifteen minutes if something isn't working ...

... this isn't a computer game.

Some people are saying it's a reality check. It's all reality, just as the first four games were reality. Winning, losing and drawing are all real, they're just different.

Watched it back this morning. We were really poor. It wasnt bad luck or anything. Individual players were not doing their jobs and RLB didn't react to Plymouth changes at half time or in game, quick enough. A good side would have exploited us much more.

We lacked a presence up front and the midfield got swamped. Ballard looked poor and is now out for a while with another injury. Regular occurrence these days. Needs to be more robust otherwise he would get the PL move. Browne needs to be in now I feel. Rigg to the bench. Looked all of the 17 years yday and lost his tactical discipline. Would start Wilson too.

We are really ringing the changes after that one!

Intriguing to see what Le Bris does.

I didn't see the game and I've just watched the highlights;
Can't see the fault in Patta for the first.
Ballard had a head loss it seemed.
Fairplay to Mundle, really contributing.
Patta not saving that follow up was poor.

Sad sign with Ballard injured in my opinion.
Thats now two arguable starters out for months, more than likely. Hopefully Mepham is robust.

Gonna be a real funny one against boro, because I think Mepham and Samed might both make starts.

It's a bold one, but I'm thinking Jobe, Browne and Samed.

He's had 45 mins of preseason. No-one should be surprised he's off the pace. Mepham to start on Sat
Perhaps he should have been a little selfish and pulled out of the call up for the international matches to ease himself back in , playing these two matches close together won’t have been a help toward his recovery . Realise playing for your country is a honour but looking after your body for the long term is more important .

I agree we are short in the striker position, I mentioned at the end of the window that we needed another 1 imo. However, not every defeat is because of not signing another striker or because of the age of the squad - sometimes it's just too many players have an off game.

The championship will see more 'shock' results than pretty much every league in the world, it's so unpredictable and that's why I personally love it!

Today is disappointing - made worst for me sitting next to a Plymouth fan n 2 newcastle fans when scouting the hibs game today - but it's only 1 game.

I try to not get too high when we win or too low when we lose. We have a big game to bounce back with next weekend, and I know the stadium will be rocking - hope the boys bounce back

Be interesting what team he selects next weekend, I suspect Mepham and Browne will start, need those type of players in a 'derby' match.

On a side note I do think we've really missed Alese's pace the last 2 games (I know we were comfortable against portsmouth) as his pace allows us to push up higher

we have missed him much more than I thought we would. Back 4 looked much more balanced with him in, esp as he wins the foot race every time. Feels like Ballard has been trying too hard trying to impress, back from injury and we’re not as fluent. Let’s see what Mepham brings vs Boro

I think we also need give Plymouth some credit.

They have been improving every week, we’d spoken on here about that pre game. They proper went for it and tried to win the game and you can’t fault them for that.

We have to be better but if that’s a bad performance then it’s far better than the bad performances last season, if that means anything.

You concede 3 you generally lose. We probably don’t concede 3 with Mepham.

12 from 15 remains a magnificent start.

Both goals Ballard looked out of control and not thinking clearly. Didn’t he have a run out with U21s and not look at his best either or I might be mis-remembering.

Each to their own, honestly don’t think it was that bad, more a case of the defence and keeper making individual mistakes. I thought Mayenda was lively all game, pinned their centre halves a number of times from throw ins and spun in behind, one resulted in a decent chance for Rigg and another he was unlucky from a tight angle when Roberts fed him in as well as he’d beaten his man for pace easily.

If Browne is to come in I’d actually revert to the Pompey starting 11, don’t think Dan Neil is quite hitting the level yet and Jobe played that role well at Fratton Park.
