I should also have said that it was a good game for Dan Neil. I don’t know how he played but to win the first game as captain of the team he grew up supporting, how fantastic is that? I I was him I’d be buzzing from now until next week.

almost felt like he was trying too hard today, he wasn’t bad but not his best game. Was up against two experienced operators in Ralls and Ramsay which made it tough for him.

he got nowt off the ref mind 3/4 times he was fouled and got nowt yet similar fouls on Ramsay were pulled up immediately.

Neil will have better games

Couldn't have asked for a better start today. Being greedy, Mayenda putting that chance away would have been terrific. I thought it was in when he struck it. To think the lads can play a lot better than that is very promising, going forward. O'Nien's opener came at the perfect time and was really well-worked. Clarke off the mark, assists for Cirkin and Jobe. A lot of credit to RLB and the other coaches for this result. They will have seen a lot of good stuff today and also plenty to be worked on.

Lovely way to start the weekend. Enjoy all!

Great win, great start to the season.
Positives, our fitness levels look good, and signs of a system to win games.
Negatives, we're a little sloppy at times that could easily have changed the game.
Hero: O'Nien
Zero: O'Nien

Such fine margins.

Onward and upward.

Haway the lads.

Jobe getting some pelters on twitter. I stand by what I said on a different thread yesterday, some of the **** aimed at him is outrageous. He's been really good, moved the ball quickly, won fouls, dealt with the ball in tight areas, created a chance. What the **** is he meant to do?
I thought he was our best player - worked his socks off and broke up play numerous times, including when he won the ball from their break and we scored the second almost straight away. O9 recognised that and made a point of acknowledging that with him :emoticon-0150-hands

QPR, Norwich and Coventry all lost, Leeds dropped two points at home to a promoted side and Cardiff were taken apart by a team that some reckon were almost relegated last season. I didn't see Dodds whisper in RLB's ear once and the travelling support was excellent all through the game ...

... a goal from a dead ball, Patterson never in trouble and three points away from home.

Roll on Sheff Wed.

Cheers RTB and hope everyone is keeping well, haven’t been posting much over preseason.

Thought we were poor second half and sure there is a lot of debate on the performance. But getting that first win is so important and 2-0 away from home I’d take any day. Thought we were comfortable but lacked a threat on the break. Still see the foundations of a quality side tho. Haway the lads

Mayenda got to the ball half a stride too early otherwise I’m sure he would have buried it.
