I get carried away with it all but, when I take a moment to concentrate on Jobe, he's magnificent. I don't always see that because he's so calm, I grew up with players flying into tackles and running around at 100mph. That was an excellent performance and without Cirkin's header, for the first goal, would've been my MOTM.
Some stats Shots Cardiff 12 Sunderland 11 On target 4 each touches in opposition box Cardiff 22 Sunderland 21 . Tells you a lot about our game
Solid performance that. Clearly some ring rust in possession and individually, but collectively I thought we were good. They had alll the possession in our second half but we made a lot of very good tackles and Patto never broke sweat. The defensive line in front of the back 4 looked solid. I though Jobe was MOM. I thought he did everything really well today. Cirkin and ONien really good too. Cracking start. 2 or 3 additions and lets see where we can go.
Just got home, over the moon for the lads and lasses who stuck it out on the train/taxis last night and got there at daft o’clock. They deserved that victory today. I’m hanging out of my arse here A cracking win, delighted. Didn’t see any play so can’t really comment but it’s a great result and a very good start. Happy days.
Workman like performance perhaps, Cirkin was absolutely a level above and Jobe played excellently. Players will still be getting used to how RLB wants them to play but you can see its getting there. I think today may have shown those higher up what the team requires - mainly at least 1 striker and maybe another DM. In all a good start to the season please log in to view this image
Didn’t watch the game, work got in the way unfortunately. To get a win away from home is magnificent. Let’s not forget that this is a team still learning how to play under a new head coach. For me things can only get better. Only one game in and of course very very early days but in RLB we have a good head coach. This could be our season. Please, nobody bookmark this if/when it all goes tits up.
Decent enough performance for first game of the season. Nothing amazing but got the job done. Mayenda - there's definitely talent there but he's raw. News to noone but we absolutely need to sign an experienced striker in ths window. Cirkin - What a player. We missed him so much last season, if he was available all year I genuinely believe we would have been up around the playoff places, he makes that much difference imo. Praying he stays fit now. Browne - very tidy, quality singing on a free. Helps make Roberts better also.
Delighted with that start today, cracking 3 points Some good performances but for me I’d highlight Cirkin. He brings something we missed massively down the left hand side. shout out for Browne as well, just thought his experience and nous was a real calming influence at times and he was constantly communicating and marshaling others, would be great to see a couple of additions with his nous and experience in other areas. we were very good without the ball it felt as though each player knew their role and as a result we were well organised and deserving of the clean sheet. Yes they had a lot of the ball but did nowt with it. also saw some glimpses of some lovely play when we were prepared to move the ball quickly. think we can still improve on our ball retention, in the second half I thought it was poor at times and gave us unnecessary problems. Can we add the striker we clearly need I hope so as with that addition and a couple of additional astute signings we are going to be competitive. positive start and much much better than I anticipated, well done to the mgt team and the players
Enjoyed that, really positive team performance. Didn't feel cardiff ever really had us under real sustained pressure. Lots to build on and a good start to the season
We absolutely do, but do we need to panic and wet the bed because we've not got one yet? No we don't.
Rigg did well when he came on. We were struggling to keep the ball yet he instantly looked some comfortable with it. Must have nerves of steel. He started the move for the second goal.
I should also have said that it was a good game for Dan Neil. I don’t know how he played but to win the first game as captain of the team he grew up supporting, how fantastic is that? I I was him I’d be buzzing from now until next week.
