Plymouth’s choice is horrendous mind.
I’m honestly really not against Rosenior. He’s not managed long and had hull on the edge of playoffs. I know he should have done more but like I say he’s young and not managed long. I think he has a really bright future and I’d be content with him coming in. A lot of people have compared him to Beale which makes me worry about potential vitriol towards any appointment. We really need to get passed that as it’ll hinder our progress
I don't get why he's seen as an inferior option to Still and Maric. Still's just finished exactly mid table and Maric has no experience of being head coach to speak of. I'm sure they both talk a good game but is that all people are getting hyped off?
We can't afford to **** this appointment up and to my mind those are two risky appointments. Rosenior has shown he knows the league, can get results and is also in the young coach with potential category.
Yeah I'm not sure what all the hype is with Still, will always back him if he is appointed but not sure why some are so excited about him
I'd like to see a few "I'm sure Still/Maric is the right choice for a team looking to get promoted from the championship because:" sentences finished. I'm up for a left field choice, which they both are, but I'd like a bit more understanding about why they're a realistic option.
Especially why they're seen by many as a clearly better option than Rosenior who has already proven he can get a decent side in and around the playoff positions.
I'd like to be enlightened.

The truth is these days it is not about what you have achieved or whether you know the league, it is about style of play and footballing philosophies. How as a head coach you understand your players and what they are capable of and then getting the best out of them in any given game. It is about man management and tactics and not about achievements. Well not for us anyway.
Arteta was number 2 to Pep and has had to fight hard to prove himself at Arsenal and came very close to winning the league but he had limited experience as a HC and there are a lot more out there who have proven that you just need the right fit for your club. We have had the experienced managers over the years like Parkinson and Grayson etc who have failed miserably, so for me it is time to try and shake it up a bit.
I hope it is Will Still as I think it is an exciting and ambitious appointment and I really think he will implement an attacking style of football. If it is not him then I hope whoever does come in has a similar philosophy of playing a high press and attacking style as this seasons defensive displays have really dampened the crowd.
Feels like there has been a very big shift in perspective recently and that "safe pairs of hands" that used to go from club to club proving themselves mediocre at each place are starting to become undesirable.
Clubs, it seems, are happy to look at young guys coming through and give them a chance for the promise of a risky pay-off.
Think football will be all the healthier for it every time a Bruce or a Warnock retire and a Rohl or a Mckenna comes through.

An attacking style of football sounds great, what if it doesn't work. It did for Mowbray for one season mainly because he had Amad, didn't the next. I've got no idea why Will Still, fresh off finishing mid table demonstrating his attacking style is filling people with confidence he's the bloke for the job.
Will people continue to be excited about our attacking style in a couple of years if we've got nowhere near promotion while a green coach figures out the league and squad? Personally I'm of the opinion that points are what we need now not a philosophy.
That doesn't mean we have to hoof it and endure dire football. There's a balance to be found. People seem to be critical of Hull's style but their fans always seemed happy enough to me.
I think you have a point about there being coaches out there who may well be better than Still. There has been plenty of hype about him, I'd seen pieces about him on BT and on BBC (I think) and read several articles, long before he was linked to us. I think this has created a bit of an aura around him, that maybe isn't a true reflection of his competence. I would have thought that there are people out there are at least as good as him who haven't had the same level of recognition. I think the fact that he's had that level of hype is one of the reasons that the club like him. After the Beale situation, it will look good for them to be able to say "we've landed one of the hottest properties in European football".
I know next to nothing about him. Plenty disagree but I’d prefer Rosenior because I think he has a good future based on what I’ve seen but there will be plenty of others I know nowt about so im not losing the plot over another one of those. It isn’t great if we get knocked back by our main target after getting so close though.
Mid table in a top flight division.. Hull had a stronger squad than Ipswich and finished well below them, that’s the difference between a good manager who plays attacking football and an average manager who plays cautious football.
I think Rosenior would be as good a choice, although I probably know less about him than I do about Still. I think Still, because of the hype, makes a statement to everyone who claims the club aren't ambitious.
I think that's the crux of it, at least in terms of why people want him and why the meltdown would be sizeable if we don't.
I'm all for hiring an exciting prospect personally and would give them time if they don't find success quickly, but my concern is how many of our fans does that apply to. The need to get promoted as part of Dreyfus' long term plans for sustainability is knocking on the door louder and louder every season too.
